Driver sought after motorcyclist critically injured – Wallsend

A motorcyclist has been critically injured in a crash at Newcastle overnight.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Lake and Croudace roads, Wallsend, shortly before 9.30pm (Friday 23 October 2026), and found a 32-year-old man suffering multiple injuries after his motorbike and a vehicle collided.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to John Hunter Hospital where – police have been told – he has since undergone surgery.

Officers attached to Newcastle City Police District established a crime scene and commenced investigations.

Initial inquiries indicate the motorcyclist was riding north, and a silver Hyundai Getz was being driven south, when the collision occurred.

The driver of the hatchback left the scene before emergency personnel arrived; inquiries are underway to identify that driver.

Police are now appealing for anyone with information or relevant dashcam footage to contact Newcastle City Police or Crime Stoppers.
