Lord Mayoral Minutes
Lord Mayor participation in Newcastle Airport trade mission to Singapore
Council voted unanimously for a Lord Mayoral Minute that endorsed the Lord Mayor’s participation in the inaugural Hunter Region Singapore Trade and Connectivity Mission from 27 September to 1 October 2026, hosted by Newcastle Airport.

Tabling of Register of Disclosures of Interest – 1 May to 31 July 2026
Council noted the tabling of the Register of Disclosures of Interest for the period 1 May to 31 July 2026 by the Chief Executive Officer.
Endorsement of the public exhibition for the Climate Adaptation and Resilience Action Plan
Council voted unanimously to place the draft Newcastle Climate Adaptation and Resilience Action Plan 2026-2031 on public exhibition for a minimum of 28 days. The plan outlines how City of Newcastle will manage climate-related hazards and risks to our assets, operations, services and our natural environment.
Review of Public Voice and Public Briefing Policy
Council voted unanimously on an amended motion to adopt the revised Public Voice and Public Briefing Policy.
Executive Monthly Performance Report
Council received the Executive Monthly Performance Report for July 2026.
Write off of sundry debt
Council voted to write off the sundry debt account in accordance with Clause 213 of the Local Government (General) Regulation 2021. The amount above which debts to Council may be written off only by resolution of the council has been fixed at $10,000 (including GST) per debt.
Tender report – Union St Wickham – public domain works
Council voted unanimously to determine an outcome for Union Street Wickham, public domain works.

Supporting Vietnam Veterans in the Hunter
Council voted unanimously on a motion requesting that City of Newcastle engage with the Hunter of Vietnam Veterans Society to develop a sustainable model for the continuation of the annual Vietnam Veterans Day Memorial Service, including consideration of incorporating the service into the suite of commemorative service is already facilitated by the City of Newcastle.
Notices of Motion
Welcoming the proposed Federation Compact
Council unanimously supported an amended notice of motion to write to the Federal Member for Newcastle and relevant Federal Ministers welcoming the Australian Labor Party’s commitment to establish a five-year Federation Compact with Local Government and seeking a clear pathway to restore Financial Assistance Grants to at least one per cent of Commonwealth taxation revenue.
Targeting illegal vehicle usage in New South Wales
Council unanimously supported an amended notice of motion that Council invites NSW Police to provide a briefing on the Police operations that are underway and have already taken place locally in response to the illegal use of vehicles, and data on the incidence of illegal use of vehicles. Council will further request increased penalties related to the damage of community facilities and sporting fields, including an option to include recovery of costs from the persons that are found responsible.
Advocacy versus core services
Council supported an amended notice of motion requesting that the CEO order future agendas so that Notices of Motion considering matters primarily within City of Newcastle’s responsibilities are considered first in the order submitted, followed by all remaining Notices of Motion in the order submitted.
Newcastle Airport – Airport of the Year 2026
Council unanimously supported a notice of motion noting that Newcastle Airport was named Airport of the Year at the 2026 Australian Aviation Awards, recognising its transformation, growth in connectivity, commitment to passenger experience and sustainability, and contribution to the regional economy.
