{"id":9804,"date":"2020-12-30T16:22:35","date_gmt":"2020-12-30T16:22:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=9804"},"modified":"2020-12-30T16:22:35","modified_gmt":"2020-12-30T16:22:35","slug":"businesses-reminded-to-download-nsw-government-service-nsw-qr-code","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2020\/12\/30\/businesses-reminded-to-download-nsw-government-service-nsw-qr-code\/","title":{"rendered":"BUSINESSES REMINDED TO DOWNLOAD NSW GOVERNMENT SERVICE NSW QR CODE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hospitality businesses and hairdressers are being reminded to download and use the NSW Government\u2019s Service NSW QR code for registrations, or risk serious penalties, with the new rules taking effect from 1 January, 2021.<br \/>\nMinister for Customer Service Victor Dominello said the Government\u2019s Service NSW QR code system is fast, free, accurate and private.<br \/>\n\u201cThe consequences of non-compliance and complacency when it comes to electronic record keeping are serious &#8211; it puts people\u2019s health at risk and destroys jobs,\u201d Mr Dominello said.<br \/>\n\u201cThe feedback we\u2019ve received from contact tracers is that the Service NSW QR code is the most effective system in assisting NSW Health to protect the community.<br \/>\n\u201cOur QR code also prevents the use of fake names as a customer\u2019s personal details are automatically captured via the Service NSW app when they scan their smartphone over the QR code.<br \/>\n\u201cWe must be vigilant and cannot rest on our laurels. Businesses are already required to have electronic registrations and this move will strengthen our resilience further.<br \/>\n\u201cNon-compliance is easy to detect and won\u2019t be tolerated. Pursuant to the Public Health Orders you either have the Service NSW QR code or you don\u2019t. There will be no ifs or buts. Penalties\u00a0include $5,000 on-the-spot fines, followed by a week\u2019s closure and month\u2019s closure if problems continue.<br \/>\n\u201cAbout 50,000\u00a0NSW Government\u00a0QR codes are being used by businesses and\u00a0more than\u00a02 millioncustomers\u00a0having scanned one of our QR codes,\u00a0with\u00a094\u00a0per cent giving it the thumbs up.\u201d<br \/>\nMr Dominello encouraged customers to download the Service NSW app prior to the new rules taking effect on 1 January, 2021.<br \/>\n\u201cIt only takes minutes to do and seconds for businesses to check, which helps keep people safe and the economy open,\u201d Mr Dominello said.<br \/>\nBusinesses are also required to ensure that they have sighted the customers\u2019 green tick prior to entry to comply with the orders.<br \/>\nPersonal information obtained by businesses will be held securely by the Government and only used by NSW Health in the event of an outbreak.
