{"id":9759,"date":"2020-12-23T06:27:24","date_gmt":"2020-12-23T06:27:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=9759"},"modified":"2020-12-23T06:27:24","modified_gmt":"2020-12-23T06:27:24","slug":"thanks-to-australias-rural-regional-and-remote-health-workforce","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2020\/12\/23\/thanks-to-australias-rural-regional-and-remote-health-workforce\/","title":{"rendered":"Thanks to Australia\u2019s rural, regional and remote health workforce"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Regional\u00a0Australia has done exceptionally well in managing\u00a0the\u00a0COVID-19\u00a0pandemic\u00a0and we are in a great position going into next year\u00a0thanks to our world class health workforce.<br \/>\nFederal\u00a0Regional Health\u00a0Minister,\u00a0Mark Coulton\u00a0said\u00a0the\u00a0rural workforce\u00a0\u2013 including\u00a0doctors, nurses,\u00a0midwives,\u00a0pharmacists\u00a0and allied health professionals \u2013\u00a0has\u00a0continually risen to the\u00a0challenges\u00a0of\u00a0COVID-19.<br \/>\n\u201cI want to particularly thank the health workers who maintained essential services in rural and remote communities during a time of great uncertainty and under considerable pressure,\u201d Minister Coulton said.<br \/>\n\u201cFor many, it meant additional time away from their families and making a personal sacrifice to ensure their communities and rural Australia\u00a0more broadly\u00a0remained safe.<br \/>\n\u201cAustralia\u2019s\u00a0rural\u00a0health care workers\u00a0have\u00a0shouldered a great burden to deliver high quality care during this crisis for the benefit of all Australians.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cThe\u00a0past year has thrown up\u00a0many\u00a0challenges,\u00a0including drought, fires, floods and the pandemic which our\u00a0health system has responded\u00a0to\u00a0and supported\u00a0communities through.\u201d<br \/>\nMinister Coulton said\u00a0while there were currently small outbreaks,\u00a0the\u00a0Federal\u00a0Government\u2019s sustained response to the pandemic, in close cooperation with\u00a0states and territories and\u00a0health professionals, has been extremely successful in containing the virus.<br \/>\n\u201cOur\u00a0management of this crisis means our world class health system was not overwhelmed by the virus.<br \/>\n\u201cAustralia, particularly regional Australia, has fared extremely well in comparison to the rest of the world. All\u00a0Australians have played their part in helping to\u00a0stop\u00a0the spread of this virus.<br \/>\nMinister Coulton said it was\u00a0important\u00a0to\u00a0remain vigilant\u00a0and COVID-safe over Christmas and beyond to help\u00a0maintain\u00a0our\u00a0extraordinary success.<br \/>\n\u201cWhile many are feeling tired at the end of a long, difficult\u00a0year,\u00a0we should\u00a0spare a thought for those who\u00a0will continue to provide\u00a0vital\u00a0health care over the holidays,\u201d he said.<br \/>\n\u201cI\u00a0extend my thanks\u00a0and\u00a0acknowledge the many frontline\u00a0health staff\u00a0who\u00a0will continue to work throughout the festive season\u00a0to safeguard the health of\u00a0all\u00a0Australians,\u00a0now and into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Regional\u00a0Australia has done exceptionally well in managing\u00a0the\u00a0COVID-19\u00a0pandemic\u00a0and we are in a great position going into next year\u00a0thanks to our world class health workforce.
