{"id":9595,"date":"2020-12-12T03:35:15","date_gmt":"2020-12-12T03:35:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=9595"},"modified":"2020-12-12T03:35:15","modified_gmt":"2020-12-12T03:35:15","slug":"man-faces-six-charges-after-fatal-crash-near-maitland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2020\/12\/12\/man-faces-six-charges-after-fatal-crash-near-maitland\/","title":{"rendered":"Man faces six charges after fatal crash near Maitland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The driver of a utility is facing six charges after his passenger died in a crash in the Hunter region last month.<br \/>\nEmergency services were called to Anambah Road at Rutherford, 8km north-east of Maitland, shortly after 9pm on Saturday 7 November 2020, after a Ford utility left the roadway and hit a guard rail.<br \/>\nThe front-seat passenger, a 29-year-old man, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.<br \/>\nOfficers from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District attended and commenced inquiries with assistance from the Crash Investigation Unit.<br \/>\nThe driver, a 33-year-old man, was arrested and taken to John Hunter Hospital for mandatory testing, before<br \/>\nbeing taken to Maitland Police Station.<br \/>\nFollowing iinquiries by the Crash Investigation Unit, the man has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death \u2013 drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasioning death), aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death \u2013 influence drugs, dangerous driving occasioning death \u2013 drive under influence, drive vehicle (while) illicit drug present in blood, and drive with middle range PCA.<br \/>\nHe is due to appear before Maitland Local Court <a dir=\"ltr\" href=\"x-apple-data-detectors:\/\/2\">on Wednesday 17 February 2021<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The driver of a utility is facing six charges after his passenger died in a crash in the Hunter region last month.
