{"id":9459,"date":"2020-12-02T23:30:10","date_gmt":"2020-12-02T23:30:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=9459"},"modified":"2020-12-02T23:30:10","modified_gmt":"2020-12-02T23:30:10","slug":"city-hall-to-come-alive-with-love-songs-and-serenades","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2020\/12\/02\/city-hall-to-come-alive-with-love-songs-and-serenades\/","title":{"rendered":"City Hall to come alive with love songs and serenades"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Novocastrians can soak in the grandeur of City Hall\u2019s grand Concert Hall while being entertained by local talent performing a range of opera, jazz, and classical repertoire, all in the space of their lunch break.<br \/>\nCity of Newcastle will host the City Hall Concert Series where music lovers can enjoy the unique opportunity to see world class artists live on stage in a string of free and ticketed shows throughout December.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"City-Hall-Concert-Series-Copy-1.JPG\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newcastle.nsw.gov.au\/getattachment\/Council\/News\/Latest-News\/City-Hall-to-come-alive-with-love-songs-and-serena\/City-Hall-Concert-Series-Copy-1.JPG\" alt=\"City-Hall-Concert-Series-Copy-1.JPG\" \/><br \/>\nIn the main attraction of the series,multi-award-winning Teddy Tahu Rhodes will be joined by internationally acclaimed flautist Jane Rutter on Saturday 5 December for a sublime concert of love and romance where audiences will be swept away with the passion of Italian opera.<br \/>\nTahu Rhodes is Australia\u2019s favourite leading man of the operatic and concert stage, dazzling audiences with his extraordinary voice and presence.\u202fThe pair will unite their musical genius to raise people\u2019s spirits and pull at heartstrings with some of the world\u2019s greatest love songs.<br \/>\nToday saw the first of four free lunchtime concerts in December with Hunter Opera taking the stage with Iranian born tenor Sam Elmi performing alongside Catherine Sheng Cooper (Violin) and Mercia Buck (piano).<br \/>\nCouncillor Carol Duncan said the concert series invites the community to experience City Hall in all its glory and that midday performances hark back to an earlier time in Newcastle.<br \/>\n\u201cOur city\u2019s historic civic building is a stunning setting for musical performance.
