{"id":9119,"date":"2020-11-12T09:14:15","date_gmt":"2020-11-12T09:14:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=9119"},"modified":"2020-11-12T09:14:15","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T09:14:15","slug":"whispers-of-something-new-at-stockton-ferry-wharf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2020\/11\/12\/whispers-of-something-new-at-stockton-ferry-wharf\/","title":{"rendered":"Whispers of something new at Stockton Ferry Wharf"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A\u00a0new\u00a0\u2018container\u00a0kiosk\u2019\u00a0is set\u00a0to open\u00a0near the Stockton Ferry Wharf\u00a0by Christmas, with onsite works beginning\u00a0this week.<br \/>\nAs agreed\u00a0earlier this year,\u00a0City of Newcastle\u00a0will\u00a0lease the container to Lexie\u2019s on the Beach owner Nick\u00a0Sovechles\u00a0for\u00a0the first\u00a012 months, who plans to call the kiosk \u2018Whispers on the Wharf\u2019.<br \/>\nInitially,\u00a0it\u00a0was going to be a temporary home for the popular Stockton caf\u00e9, which vacated its beachside location\u00a0following an erosion event earlier in the year.\u00a0Lexie\u2019s has since reopened at the beach\u00a0in addition to taking\u00a0on the lease of the container.<br \/>\nCity of Newcastle\u2019s Director Infrastructure &amp; Property Ken Liddell\u00a0said\u00a0the wharf will be an ideal location for the new business, with Stockton\u2019s Ferry servicing around 50,000 passengers per month and the nearby Active Hub attracting thousands each week.<br \/>\n\u201cIt has been pleasing to see\u00a0our\u00a0staff work towards getting this container on site and operational as soon as possible. It\u2019s a great location and will service\u00a0commuters,\u00a0playground visitors and park-runners,\u201d\u00a0he\u00a0said.<br \/>\nMr\u00a0Sovechles\u00a0said the new location will provide a different offering, which will help foster resilience in the community, stimulate the local economy, and promote Stockton as a unique place to live and visit.<br \/>\n&#8220;We want the menu to reflect the breezy feel of the wharf and we will be catering to early morning commuters, users of the Stockton cycleway, and families enjoying the new park facilities and Active Hub.<br \/>\n\u201cWe are very mindful of complementing and not competing with existing Stockton businesses.
