Always Will Be.\u2019<\/em><br \/>\nThis week, we acknowledge and celebrate the breadth and depth of First People\u2019s knowledge, achievements, experiences and stories, and connection to country.<br \/>\nAustralia is home to the oldest living civilisation on Earth \u2013 made up of hundreds of nations and cultures that spanned this continent.<br \/>\nThis is rightfully a source of pride for all Australians \u2013 First Nations and non-Indigenous alike.<br \/>\nFor tens of thousands of years, First Australians practised and accrued knowledge in a range of fields: from exploration and navigation; to farming and botany; science, engineering and astronomy; trade and diplomacy; to art and story-telling.<br \/>\nAs the world contemplates the challenges of climate change \u2013 from severe bushfires; to catastrophic droughts; and rising sea levels \u2013 there is much to learn from First Australians, particularly in relation to land care and sustainability.<br \/>\nNAIDOC is about opening our minds, and to listen and learn.<br \/>\nWe may not be celebrating NAIDOC Week the same way we usually do, but all of us can still get involved.<br \/>\nThere are various ways we can all safely participate in activities in our local community.<br \/>\n<em>For more information and to find out more about NAIDOC events happening near you, visit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/alp.us12.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=942ebc4c1cf8fc522a4f4c50e&amp;id=9b735de96e&amp;e=579c54a3a1\">www.naidoc.org.au<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The theme for this year\u2019s NAIDOC Week is\u00a0\u2018Always Was.
