{"id":8840,"date":"2020-10-22T22:28:31","date_gmt":"2020-10-22T22:28:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=8840"},"modified":"2020-10-22T22:28:31","modified_gmt":"2020-10-22T22:28:31","slug":"government-spend-backing-small-and-medium-businesses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2020\/10\/22\/government-spend-backing-small-and-medium-businesses\/","title":{"rendered":"GOVERNMENT SPEND BACKING SMALL AND MEDIUM BUSINESSES"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New data has revealed the NSW Government spent more than $40 billion on goods, services and construction in 2019\/20, with nearly half this amount going to small and medium businesses, reiterating its support for the business community.<br \/>\nFigures collated from NSW Government agencies revealed $19.1 billion was spent with small and medium businesses \u2013 from food catering to technical consulting and construction work \u2013 an increase of more than $3 billion from the previous year.<br \/>\nTreasurer Dominic Perrottet said small and medium businesses continued to be a key focus for the success of NSW.<br \/>\n\u201cSmall and medium business owners are the backbone of the NSW economy, and we\u2019re committed to supporting these businesses to grow and employ more people,\u201d Mr Perrottet said.<br \/>\n\u201cOf the $19.1 billion spent with small and medium businesses, $16.6 billion went to more than 51,000 small and medium businesses located in NSW.<br \/>\n\u201cThis is more than just a big number \u2013 every time we engage a small or medium business, we support jobs, families and local communities.\u201d<br \/>\nMinister for Finance and Small Business Damien Tudehope said it was important for small businesses to be front of mind when departments were considering which suppliers to engage.<br \/>\n\u201cThere is no doubt that small businesses have been doing it tough, first with drought, bushfires, floods and now COVID-19.<br \/>\n\u201cAlmost half of the money spent by the government on goods, services and construction was with small and medium sized businesses demonstrating their importance to the NSW economy.\u201d<br \/>\nNSW Government agencies are responsible for conducting their own procurements in line with the NSW Procurement Policy Framework to ensure suppliers are sourced with consideration for value for money, fair and open competition, economic development, social outcomes and sustainability.<br \/>\nBusinesses can register and search for opportunities to supply to the NSW Government at:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/suppliers.buy.nsw.gov.au\/\">https:\/\/suppliers.buy.nsw.gov.au\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New data has revealed the NSW Government spent more than $40 billion on goods, services and construction in 2019\/20, with nearly half this amount going to small and medium businesses, reiterating its support for the business community.
