{"id":8689,"date":"2020-10-13T06:17:16","date_gmt":"2020-10-13T06:17:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=8689"},"modified":"2020-10-13T06:17:16","modified_gmt":"2020-10-13T06:17:16","slug":"new-10-year-strategy-to-support-850000-carers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2020\/10\/13\/new-10-year-strategy-to-support-850000-carers\/","title":{"rendered":"NEW 10 YEAR STRATEGY TO SUPPORT 850,000 CARERS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The NSW Government\u2019s new 10-year strategy released during National Carers Week will ensure the states 850,000 carers will receive better support and recognition to improve their financial and physical wellbeing.<br \/>\nMinister for Families, Communities and Disability Services Gareth Ward said the strategy aims to help carers overcome the challenges involved with caring for loved ones.<br \/>\n\u201cNational Carers Week is a significant time to recognise and celebrate the outstanding contribution unpaid carers make to our communities,\u201d Mr Ward said.<br \/>\n\u201cUnder the strategy, the NSW Government will make it easier for carers to access information and services, reduce financial stress and look after their own health and wellbeing.\u201d<br \/>\nThis includes a new landing page for carers on the Service NSW website and an awareness campaign,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.caring.dcj.nsw.gov.au\/\"><em>It\u2019s Caring<\/em><\/a>, to help carers self-identify and seek help.<br \/>\nAction plans, released every two years, will set out the steps NSW Government agencies and the sector are taking to better support and recognise carers.<br \/>\nIn NSW, carers provide care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability, mental illness, alcohol or drug dependency, long-term health condition or the elderly.<br \/>\nCarers NSW CEO Elena Katrakis said the strategy will provide an important framework and direction for supporting carers over the next 10 years and help to overcome the many challenges carers face.<br \/>\n\u201cCarers are providing more hours of care than ever before and this new strategy will make it easier for carers to access the information and support that they need to continue their vital caring roles,\u201d Ms Katrakis said.<br \/>\nTo access the NSW Carers Strategy 2020-2030 please visit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facs.nsw.gov.au\/inclusion\/carers\">https:\/\/www.facs.nsw.gov.au\/inclusion\/carers<\/a><br \/>\nInformation on National Carers Week is at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/carersweek.com.au\/\">https:\/\/carersweek.com.au\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The NSW Government\u2019s new 10-year strategy released during National Carers Week will ensure the states 850,000 carers will receive better support and recognition to improve their financial and physical wellbeing.
