{"id":8066,"date":"2020-09-07T21:59:06","date_gmt":"2020-09-07T21:59:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=8066"},"modified":"2020-09-07T21:59:06","modified_gmt":"2020-09-07T21:59:06","slug":"help-to-improve-mental-health-at-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2020\/09\/07\/help-to-improve-mental-health-at-work\/","title":{"rendered":"HELP TO IMPROVE MENTAL HEALTH AT WORK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The NSW Government is seeking feedback on proposed guidelines to promote mentally healthy workplaces in NSW.<br \/>\nMinister for Better Regulation, Kevin Anderson, said a draft\u00a0<i>SafeWork NSW Code of Practice for managing the risks to psychological health<\/i>\u00a0is being developed to provide simple and practical guidance for workplaces to promote improved mental health.<br \/>\n\u201cMitigating and managing mental health risks at work can be complex, that\u2019s why we\u2019ve drafted a practical guide for employers, making it easy for them to create a mentally healthy workplace,\u201d Mr Anderson said.<br \/>\n\u201cMental health is everybody\u2019s business and it is vital that every single workplace in NSW has the tools to create a positive and healthy environment.\u201d<br \/>\nNSW will be the first state in Australia to develop a code of this kind that encompasses a broad overview of risks to psychological health covering all NSW workplaces.<br \/>\n\u201cWe want to hear from the public as to how clear and effective the draft code is. Once the consultation period has ended, every submission received will be considered,\u201d Mr Anderson said.<br \/>\nMinister for Mental Health, Bronnie Taylor, stressed the importance and benefits of having a mentally healthy workplace for employers and employees.<br \/>\n\u201cMost of us spend about one-third of our waking lives at work. It\u2019s a huge part of what we do and can have a huge impact on our mental health in a positive or negative way,\u201d Mrs Taylor said.<br \/>\n\u201cKnowing how to prioritise the mental health and wellbeing of staff, is more important than ever, and can also make a big difference to workplace morale and productivity.\u201d<br \/>\nIndividuals and organisations are invited to comment on the consultation paper.
