{"id":8003,"date":"2020-09-03T04:38:00","date_gmt":"2020-09-03T04:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=8003"},"modified":"2020-09-03T04:38:00","modified_gmt":"2020-09-03T04:38:00","slug":"former-wiggle-backs-nsw-government-local-sport-defibrillator-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2020\/09\/03\/former-wiggle-backs-nsw-government-local-sport-defibrillator-program\/","title":{"rendered":"FORMER WIGGLE BACKS NSW GOVERNMENT LOCAL SPORT DEFIBRILLATOR PROGRAM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Original yellow Wiggle and cardiac arrest survivor Greg Page has thrown his support behind the NSW Government\u2019s Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program today, which offers sport and recreation facilities the opportunity to share in up to $1 million this year to help purchase defibrillators.<br \/>\nActing Minister for Sport Geoff Lee said the initiative encourages sports and councils to invest in equipment that could save lives.<br \/>\n\u201cUp to 7,000 people experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest each year in NSW,\u201d Mr Lee said.<br \/>\n\u201cDefibrillators save lives and since the launch of the program, more than 1,500 defibrillators have been purchased by sporting facilities and clubs across the State.<br \/>\n\u201cMedical experts say the first eight minutes following a cardiac arrest are critical.
