{"id":7542,"date":"2020-08-03T15:59:51","date_gmt":"2020-08-03T15:59:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=7542"},"modified":"2020-08-03T15:59:51","modified_gmt":"2020-08-03T15:59:51","slug":"new-technology-diploma-to-teach-industry-4-0-in-nsw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2020\/08\/03\/new-technology-diploma-to-teach-industry-4-0-in-nsw\/","title":{"rendered":"NEW TECHNOLOGY DIPLOMA TO TEACH \u2018INDUSTRY 4.0\u2019 IN NSW"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new Diploma of Applied Technologies launched today will help train the skilled workers NSW needs to continue building its advanced manufacturing economy.<br \/>\nMinister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said advanced manufacturing was a central component of the NSW Government\u2019s COVID-19 Recovery Plan.<br \/>\n\u201cNSW boasts world-leading advanced manufacturing capacity across a range of sectors and the Government is supporting this from our industry precincts such as the Western Sydney Aerotropolis through to training initiatives such as this diploma.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cOur manufacturing industry in NSW is undergoing a transformation known as the fourth industrial revolution, or Industry 4.0 and this course qualifies graduates in necessary disciplines like networking, big data, cloud computing and digital control systems,\u201d Mr Ayres said.<br \/>\n\u201cEmbracing advanced technologies will be vital to ongoing profitability and competitive advantage but\u00a0companies need a comprehensive strategy to manage equipment, processes, supply chain, sales and \u2013 most importantly \u2013 their workforce.\u201d<br \/>\nMinister for Skills and Tertiary Education Geoff Lee said the training will be gold standard.<br \/>\n\u201cNew qualifications like this Diploma of Applied Technologies will be a crucial part of ensuring NSW has the right skills mix to become one of the world\u2019s leading digital economies,\u201d Mr Lee said.<br \/>\nThe qualification is being rolled out by the NSW Government in collaboration with Ai Group and Manufacturing Skills Australia. It is suitable for new or existing employees, with assessment conducted via work-based projects.<br \/>\nHead of Ai Group in NSW Mark Goodsell said it was designed to address skill gaps created by the big changes shaking up global manufacturing.<br \/>\n\u201cIndustry needs people with practical skills who understand emerging technologies,\u201d Mr Goodsell said.<br \/>\n\u201cThese are people who can physically connect machines and equipment to each other via the cloud and devise meaningful ways to capture and use the ensuing data streams \u2013 key drivers of productivity and innovation across the economy.<br \/>\n\u201cThe Diploma is targeted at the para-professional and technician level, creating new pathways into professional qualifications.
