NB: it is not a full record of resolutions.<br \/>\n<strong>Lord Mayoral Minutes\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\">A Lord Mayoral Minute to protect the heritage fig trees in Birdwood Park in perpetuity and calling\u00a0on the NSW Government to abandon their project to create\u00a0a\u00a0slip lane on the corner of King Street and Stewart Avenue, was supported.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\">A Lord Mayoral Minute\u00a0for\u00a0City of Newcastle\u00a0to\u00a0make\u00a0a submission to the Inquiry into the integrity, efficacy and value for money of NSW Government grant programs, highlighting the ongoing uncertainty regarding Newcastle\u2019s status, and raising concern about the significant amount of grant funding the City has\u00a0been deemed ineligible to receive, was supported.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\">A Lord Mayor Minute to prepare a submission for consideration for the 2021 Infrastructure Priority List publication, outlining projects of significance to the City of Newcastle, and the Greater Newcastle Metropolitan Area (as outlined in the Greater Newcastle Metropolitan Plan 2036),\u00a0was supported.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ordinary business\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Public exhibition of the draft 2025 Climate Action Plan\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nCouncil voted to place the\u00a0draft 2025 Climate Action Plan\u00a0on public exhibition for 28 days.<br \/>\n<strong>Supplementary report &#8211; endorsement of\u00a0amendment to\u00a0Newcastle\u00a0LEP\u00a02012 and proposed\u00a0Planning\u00a0Agreement\u00a0&#8211;\u00a041 and 47\u00a0Throsby\u00a0Street,\u00a0Wickham\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nCouncil\u00a0resolved\u00a0to\u00a0endorse the\u00a0amendment\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0Newcastle\u00a0Local Environmental\u00a0Plan\u00a0regarding\u00a041 and 47 Throsby Street, Wickham.<br \/>\n<strong>Exhibition of draft\u00a0sections of Newcastle\u00a0Development\u00a0Control\u00a0Plan 2012<\/strong><br \/>\nCouncil voted to\u00a0place\u00a0five\u00a0draft\u00a0sections of the\u00a0Newcastle Development Control Plan 2012 on public exhibition\u00a0for 28 days.<br \/>\n<strong>Proposed raised crossing and pedestrian refuge at\u00a0Maitland\u00a0Road,\u00a0Mayfield\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nCouncil\u00a0approved\u00a0the upgrade of the existing pedestrian crossing on\u00a0Tourle\u00a0Street\u00a0at\u00a0Maitland Road, Mayfield to a raised crossing with a pedestrian refuge and kerb\u00a0extension.<br \/>\n<strong>Proposed pedestrian refuge at\u00a0Maitland\u00a0Road,\u00a0Mayfield\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nCouncil approved\u00a0construction of a pedestrian refuge\u00a0and kerb extension\u00a0on Woodstock Street at Maitland Road, Mayfield\u00a0to\u00a0improve pedestrian safety at the crossing and mitigate against speeding.<br \/>\n<strong>Tender report\u00a0\u2013\u00a0No.1\u00a0Sportsground upgrade\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nCouncil\u00a0voted\u00a0to accept a\u00a0tender for the upgrade of No.1 Sportsground\u00a0following a competitive tender process.<br \/>\n<strong>Tender report &#8211;\u00a0Bathers\u00a0Way,\u00a0South\u00a0Newcastle\u00a0Beach\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nCouncil voted to accept a tender for the Bathers Way, South Newcastle Beach project construction following a competitive tender process.<br \/>\n<strong>Executive monthly performance report\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nCouncil received the executive monthly performance report for\u00a0June\u00a02020.<br \/>\n<strong>Notices of Motion\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Renaming\u00a0City of\u00a0Newcastle buildings and other features\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nA notice of motion to\u00a0develop a culturally appropriate policy regarding the renaming of City of\u00a0Newcastle\u00a0buildings or other features\u00a0was supported.\u00a0The\u00a0second part of the\u00a0motion,\u00a0called\u00a0for City of Newcastle\u00a0to\u00a0conduct community consultation on the renaming of the \u201cCaptain James Cook Memorial Fountain\u201d in Civic Park,\u00a0was\u00a0also\u00a0supported.<br \/>\n<strong>Removal of Civic Park fountain\u00a0plaques\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nA notice of motion to\u00a0remove the two Captain James Cook memorial plaques attached to the Civic Park\u00a0Fountain\u00a0and\u00a0reaffirm the principles and actions outlined in City of Newcastle\u2019s 1998 Commitment to Aboriginal\u00a0and Torres Strait Islander people of Newcastle was included as Part B\u00a0in the previous notice of motion.<br \/>\n<strong>1080,\u00a0Pindone and pest management review\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nA notice of motion\u00a0calling for City of Newcastle to\u00a0commit to managing invasive animals humanely\u00a0and phase out the use of poisons that are inhumane or otherwise ineffectual\u00a0was\u00a0introduced with \u00a0council\u2019s\u00a0recommendation\u00a0supported.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Council update: Ordinary Council Meeting Tuesday\u00a028\u00a0July\u00a02020 Following is a summary of resolutions from the Ordinary Council meeting of Tuesday 28\u00a0July\u00a02020.
