{"id":7027,"date":"2020-06-23T02:38:10","date_gmt":"2020-06-23T02:38:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=7027"},"modified":"2020-06-23T02:38:10","modified_gmt":"2020-06-23T02:38:10","slug":"museum-set-to-welcome-back-visitors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2020\/06\/23\/museum-set-to-welcome-back-visitors\/","title":{"rendered":"Museum set to welcome back visitors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The reopening of the\u00a0City\u2019s cultural attractions will continue this week when\u00a0Newcastle Museum\u00a0throws open\u00a0its doors to the public.<br \/>\nThe Museum will\u00a0recommence its operations on Tuesday 23 June, with three daily\u00a0one-hour sessions\u00a0being held between\u00a09.30am and 1.30pm.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"MuseumHERO-(1).jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newcastle.nsw.gov.au\/getattachment\/Council\/News\/Latest-News\/Museum-set-to-welcome-back-visitors\/MuseumHERO-(1).jpg.aspx\" alt=\"MuseumHERO-(1).jpg\" \/>Each session will be capped at 45\u00a0people, with the\u00a0restrictions\u00a0designed to allow visitors to enjoy many of\u00a0the museum\u2019s\u00a0most popular attractions\u00a0while still\u00a0complying with\u00a0the latest\u00a0NSW Public Health Order.<br \/>\nNewcastle Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes said the reopening of the museum\u00a0will\u00a0provide another\u00a0exciting\u00a0option\u00a0for locals and visitors looking to make the most of\u00a0the\u00a0easing\u00a0COVID-19\u00a0restrictions.<br \/>\n\u201cFollowing on from the successful\u00a0reopening of the Newcastle Art Gallery and several\u00a0Newcastle\u00a0Regional Library\u00a0branches,\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0pleased to see the community once again given the opportunity to enjoy the\u00a0cultural and historic\u00a0displays on offer at\u00a0Newcastle Museum,\u201d she said.<br \/>\n\u201cAs with all our reopened facilities, careful\u00a0planning has gone in to being able to\u00a0safely\u00a0reintroduce staff and visitors\u00a0into this space.\u00a0We ask that\u00a0visitors\u00a0continue to practise social distancing, following the floor markers and direction of our staff.\u201d<br \/>\nNewcastle Museum Director\u00a0Julie Baird said while\u00a0the\u202ffacility\u2019s interactive attractions will remain closed\u202ffor safety\u202fin line with State guidelines, the\u00a0museum still offers an entertaining and informative\u00a0experience that provides\u00a0a\u00a0fascinating\u00a0insight into Newcastle\u2019s\u00a0rich\u00a0heritage.<br \/>\n\u201cWe\u2019re so pleased to be able to open our doors and invite visitors back to Newcastle Museum,\u201d she said.<br \/>\n\u201cThe public\u2019s\u00a0safety, and that of our team, is our top priority.\u00a0So\u00a0we\u2019ve had to make\u00a0some changes in our exhibition\u00a0spaces,\u00a0as well as remove\u00a0a lot of our interactive exhibitions such as Supernova and\u00a0Mininova\u00a0for now.<br \/>\n\u201cThere is still more to discover, from the FIRE!
