\nCity of Newcastle today commenced\u00a0community engagement\u00a0on the\u00a0Harbour Foreshore\u00a0Masterplan, which will\u00a0help\u00a0shape the blueprint to reinvigorate this important community\u00a0hub\u00a0with an\u00a0inclusive\u00a0playspace\u00a0and\u00a0improved recreation opportunities\u00a0between Merewether Street,\u00a0Newcastle\u00a0and Foreshore Park.
\nIn addition to having their say through online information sessions and workshops, surveys and an\u00a0online mapping tool,\u00a0Novocastrians are encouraged to\u00a0submit an application\u00a0to\u00a0join the Community Reference Group\u00a0(CRG). The role of this group is\u00a0to\u00a0provide\u00a0input on the project and\u00a0achieve\u00a0a\u00a0shared, community-owned vision\u00a0that respects the foreshore\u2019s history and paves its future.
\nLord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes said Expressions of Interest (EOIs)\u00a0in the CRG\u00a0were now open, marking a significant milestone.
\n\u201cThe\u00a0Community Reference Group\u00a0will\u00a0play an important, collaborative\u00a0role in shaping and informing community\u00a0outcomes, offering valuable insights into how\u00a0this\u00a0space might be used,\u201d the Lord Mayor said.
\n\u201cTogether\u00a0we can transform the Harbour Foreshore into an even more liveable\u00a0and\u00a0accessible\u00a0recreational\u00a0space\u00a0to enjoy all that\u00a0our\u00a0picturesque coastline has to offer, which is paramount as our City grows.\u201d
