A man has died following a light plane crash in the state\u2019s Hunter region today.
\nAbout 10.15am (Sunday 17 May 2020), emergency services were called to a property on Denton Close, Windella, after reports a light plane had crashed into a backyard.
\nThe pilot and sole occupant of the aircraft was removed from the wreckage by witnesses and despite attempts to resuscitate him, he died at the scene.
\nHe is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be a 44-year-old.
\nOfficers from Port Stephens Hunter Police District established a crime scene and commenced inquiries.
\nThe Australian Transport Safety Bureau and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority have been notified.
