{"id":6544,"date":"2020-05-16T02:07:10","date_gmt":"2020-05-16T02:07:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=6544"},"modified":"2020-05-16T02:07:10","modified_gmt":"2020-05-16T02:07:10","slug":"new-vision-for-royal-north-shore-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2020\/05\/16\/new-vision-for-royal-north-shore-hospital\/","title":{"rendered":"NEW VISION FOR ROYAL NORTH SHORE HOSPITAL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The NSW Government today announced plans to transform a portion of Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH), known as the Herbert Street Precinct, into a thriving community with additional health-related services, public open space, key worker housing and a new educational facility.<br \/>\nMinister for Water, Property and Housing, Melinda Pavey, said the Government\u2019s vision for the Herbert Street Precinct will improve social, health and economic outcomes.<br \/>\n\u201cThis is a unique opportunity to improve health services, provide more open space and deliver up to 500 apartments within the site focusing on accommodation for key health-related workers, allowing hard working hospital staff and essential services workers to live close to their work,\u201d Mrs Pavey said.<br \/>\nMember for North Shore, Felicity Wilson said the proposed redevelopment supports the growth of Royal North Shore Hospital as one of the State\u2019s most important health, research and training facilities.<br \/>\n\u201cThe development of the Herbert Street Precinct provides the opportunity to improve facilities for key workers, clinicians, patients and allied health services,\u201d Ms Wilson said.<br \/>\nKey features of the transformation include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Affordable key worker accommodation (to support the Northern Sydney Local Health District) and \u2018build to rent\u2019 apartments<\/li>\n<li>New commercial office space to support the broader health and education precinct (including office space, retail and short stay accommodation)<\/li>\n<li>A new educational facility<\/li>\n<li>6,000m<sup>2<\/sup>\u00a0additional public domain and open space<\/li>\n<li>Adaptive re-use of heritage buildings<\/li>\n<li>Improved connectivity and pedestrian access to public transport; and<\/li>\n<li>Additional car parking for commercial, retail and residential uses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Government will shortly undertake a detailed consultation program with the RNSH community, government agencies, Willoughby Council, local businesses and the general public.
