{"id":5489,"date":"2020-03-17T13:17:02","date_gmt":"2020-03-17T13:17:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=5489"},"modified":"2020-03-17T13:17:02","modified_gmt":"2020-03-17T13:17:02","slug":"citys-cultural-facilities-response-to-covid-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2020\/03\/17\/citys-cultural-facilities-response-to-covid-19\/","title":{"rendered":"City\u2019s cultural facilities\u2019 response to COVID-19"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In response to COVID-19, the Federal Government has introduced social distancing measures,\u00a0which include limiting non-essential organised gatherings of 500 people or more.<br \/>\nUnsurprisingly,\u00a0the Civic Theatre\u00a0has been\u00a0advised by promoters\u00a0of all upcoming shows that they have been either cancelled or postponed.<br \/>\nOur ticketing service provider,\u202fTicketek,\u202fwill\u202finform all customers affected\u202fby\u202fa show cancellation directly.\u202fMany show promoters are postponing rather than cancelling.<br \/>\nThe Civic Theatre will provide regular updates on its website and by social media.<br \/>\nThe\u00a0Playhouse and Civic Caf\u00e9 will continue to operate\u00a0but have instituted\u00a0the additional recommended social distancing measure of ensuring customers are seated 1.5 metres apart.<br \/>\nWhilst the Newcastle Art Gallery remains open, in order for the City to do all it can to limit the transmission of the virus in our communities, and to prioritise the wellbeing of members, staff, volunteers and visitors, all public programming at the Gallery has been suspended until further notice. This includes programs Art Cart and Last Fridays.<br \/>\nNewcastle Museum remains open but has suspended the Supernova and Mininova Gallery exhibition as well as the Bush Mechanics and Cultural Resurgence exhibitions.<br \/>\nFort Scratchley\u00a0is open, however\u00a0its popular\u00a0Tunnel Tours\u00a0have\u00a0been suspended to limit close contact in a confined space.<br \/>\nAll\u00a0City\u00a0library branches are\u00a0open, however programs and events\u00a0have been suspended until further notice.<br \/>\nCity of Newcastle is working in collaboration with government partners including NSW Health to ensure our city is prepared in the event of\u00a0the\u00a0further spread of COVID-19 to the region.<br \/>\nThe City\u2019s key objectives are to provide timely information about any\u202fchanges to services or the operation of our facilities and to support the State and Federal\u00a0Governments to manage the impact of the pandemic.<br \/>\nCity of Newcastle will\u00a0adjust operations to further protect public health and the health of our staff and volunteers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In response to COVID-19, the Federal Government has introduced social distancing measures,\u00a0which include limiting non-essential organised gatherings of 500 people or more.
