{"id":5397,"date":"2020-03-08T23:56:05","date_gmt":"2020-03-08T23:56:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=5397"},"modified":"2020-03-08T23:56:05","modified_gmt":"2020-03-08T23:56:05","slug":"women-kicking-goals-in-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2020\/03\/08\/women-kicking-goals-in-business\/","title":{"rendered":"WOMEN KICKING GOALS IN BUSINESS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Women are increasingly making their mark in decision making in NSW workplaces with females holding almost 40 per cent of managerial roles, compared to 35 per cent a decade ago.<br \/>\nMinister for Women Bronnie Taylor said it was great to see women having such an impact in the workforce in NSW.<br \/>\n\u201cThe new numbers show that we are making great strides towards equal participation in leadership roles \u2013 and it\u2019s so fantastic that we are talking about this on International Women\u2019s Day,\u201d she said.<br \/>\n\u201cFemale talent brings with it a broad range of real-world experience and I am delighted to see the increased opportunities opening up for women in management and business ownership.\u201d<br \/>\nMinister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said less than one in four startups in NSW had been founded by women.<br \/>\n\u201cOur State has brilliant women in the startup space and we need to continue to provide the right support for them \u00a0to flourish and inspire the next generation of businesswomen,\u201d he said.<br \/>\n\u201cThe Sydney Startup Hub and its associated programs are an excellent example of the NSW Government\u2019s commitment to help women in startups.\u201d<br \/>\nMinister for Small Business Damien Tudehope said NSW had one of the highest proportions of women in small business in Australia.<br \/>\n\u201cWomen also account for almost two-thirds of NSW Government sector employees.<br \/>\n\u201cThey make a valuable contribution to the workforce and it\u2019s great to see these successes being appropriately celebrated today,\u201d he said.<br \/>\n<a name=\"_Hlk34314919\"><\/a>The\u00a0NSW Women\u2019s Strategy 2018-2022 aims to encourage more women into small business and includes workshops in regional and rural areas and to deliver Tafe NSW\u2019s online education program to women.<br \/>\nOne business that has benefited from NSW Government support is Super-Rewards,<br \/>\na shopping platform which helps women grow their super balance by directing a percentage of their purchases to their superannuation.<br \/>\nFounder Pascale Helyar-Moray said government investment was helping to grow the business.<br \/>\n\u201cWomen retire with only enough superannuation for six years, which translates to about half of what men retire with and we saw that as a real issue,\u201d she said.<br \/>\n\u201cSince we started, we\u2019ve had thousands of users sign up to the platform and we\u2019re seeing hundreds of thousands of sales processed through the platform.\u201d<br \/>\nThe initiative launched in October with 100 retailers on board and that number has grown to 170.<br \/>\nSuper-Rewards is a finalist in the Australian Small Business Champion Awards 2020 and Pascale has been nominated as a finalist in the Empowered Woman Awards of The Leadership Institute (ANZ).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Women are increasingly making their mark in decision making in NSW workplaces with females holding almost 40 per cent of managerial roles, compared to 35 per cent a decade ago.
