{"id":5129,"date":"2020-02-17T18:17:13","date_gmt":"2020-02-17T18:17:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=5129"},"modified":"2020-02-17T18:17:13","modified_gmt":"2020-02-17T18:17:13","slug":"community-comes-together-for-bushfire-state-memorial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2020\/02\/17\/community-comes-together-for-bushfire-state-memorial\/","title":{"rendered":"COMMUNITY COMES TOGETHER FOR BUSHFIRE STATE MEMORIAL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Premier Gladys Berejiklian and NSW RFS Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons are encouraging members of the public to attend this Sunday\u2019s NSW State Memorial for the recent bushfires.<br \/>\nMs Berejiklian said the Memorial will recognise the lives lost and the sacrifices made, and show support for those directly impacted by the fires.<br \/>\n\u201cThis Memorial will allow the community to come together to reflect on the bushfire season, recognise the incredible\u00a0efforts of all our volunteers and emergency services personnel\u00a0and remember our fallen heroes, as we begin the rebuilding process,\u201d Ms Berejiklian said.<br \/>\nDelta Goodrem will perform \u201cLet It Rain\u201d, which she penned after watching the devastation from the bushfires across Australia. All proceeds of the song are going to aid the bushfire crisis &amp; relief efforts.<br \/>\n\u201cI am honoured to be asked to perform at the State Memorial. \u201cLet It Rain\u201d is a message of gratitude to all the fire fighters, volunteers and everyone affected by the bushfires,\u201d Ms Goodrem said.<br \/>\nThe Sydney Children\u2019s Choir and Aboriginal cultural group, Koomurri will also perform.<br \/>\nThe State Memorial will pay tribute to the three NSW RFS firefighters, the three American firefighting aircrew, and community members who lost their lives in NSW as a result of the recent bushfires.<br \/>\nIt will also recognise the valued contribution of firefighters from all Australian states and territories, as well as the United States, Canada and New Zealand.<br \/>\n\u201cThis memorial will give everyone an opportunity to reflect on one of the most devastating bushfire seasons this state has seen,\u201d Commissioner Fitzsimmons said.<br \/>\n\u201cIt is a chance to reflect on the impact on the community, the lives lost and recognise the resilience of the many towns and villages that are now starting the recovery process.\u201d<br \/>\nThe State Memorial is open to all members of the public and will take place on Sunday, 23 February, at Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney Olympic Park starting at 11.30am.<br \/>\nTravel on public transport services to and from Olympic Park will be free for emergency services personnel in uniform as well as accompanying family members or friends.\u00a0For more information visit the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsw.gov.au\/improving-nsw\/projects-and-initiatives\/nsw-bushfires-state-memorial\/?fbclid=IwAR0Uyfy8MjngMQ49EKW3v0IiKGAttURM5KzuYIx46-UwlCxNRUn3u0fs_ZY\">Memorial website<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Premier Gladys Berejiklian and NSW RFS Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons are encouraging members of the public to attend this Sunday\u2019s NSW State Memorial for the recent bushfires.
