{"id":4621,"date":"2019-12-14T00:46:08","date_gmt":"2019-12-14T00:46:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=4621"},"modified":"2019-12-14T00:46:08","modified_gmt":"2019-12-14T00:46:08","slug":"ato-tax-report-proof-of-broken-system-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2019\/12\/14\/ato-tax-report-proof-of-broken-system-2\/","title":{"rendered":"ATO tax report proof of broken system"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Data released in the ATO&#8217;s Tax Transparency Report\u00a0today showing that a third of\u00a0our largest companies paid no corporate tax last year are proof that the system is rigged in favour of big corporations who make massive political\u00a0donations, said Leader of the Australian Greens Dr Richard Di Natale.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium;\">&#8220;We have two sets of rules in this country: one for big corporations who can afford to donate to Labor or the Liberals and another for the rest of us &#8211; and this report proves it,&#8221;\u00a0Di Natale said.<\/span><br \/>\n&#8220;What kind of message does it send when a multi-billion dollar corporation like Whitehaven Coal pays less\u00a0tax than a nurse on $54,000 a year? It&#8217;s time that we ended the loopholes that allow big, polluting companies to opt out of paying their fair share towards our essential services.<br \/>\n\u201cIf you can afford to make massive political donations so political parties will deliver policies that increase your company profits, then you can afford to pay your fair share of tax,&#8221; said Greens Democracy Spokesperson Sen. Larissa Waters.<br \/>\n\u201cOur democracy is sold out.
