{"id":4524,"date":"2019-12-06T10:43:32","date_gmt":"2019-12-06T10:43:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=4524"},"modified":"2019-12-06T10:43:32","modified_gmt":"2019-12-06T10:43:32","slug":"her-sport-her-way-has-winning-formula","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2019\/12\/06\/her-sport-her-way-has-winning-formula\/","title":{"rendered":"HER SPORT HER WAY HAS WINNING FORMULA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Women\u2019s sport in NSW has received a significant funding boost to help increase participation, promote leadership and encourage inclusivity.<br \/>\nActing Minister for Sport Geoff Lee today announced $635,000 in grants for 23 sporting\u00a0organisations\u00a0as part of the NSW Government\u2019s \u2018Her Sport Her Way\u2019 program.<br \/>\n\u201cWe are rewarding\u00a0organisations\u00a0which are introducing programs to break down participation barriers, promote role models and foster inclusivity,\u201d\u00a0Mr\u00a0Lee said.<br \/>\n\u201cWomen\u2019s sport is on the rise and the NSW Government is committed to assisting growth at the grassroots, elite and recreational levels. We\u2019re proud to be investing $2.6 million over four years to support this essential program.\u201d<br \/>\nMinister for Women Bronnie Taylor said \u2018Her Sport Her Way\u2019 is breaking new ground.<br \/>\n\u201cImportant changes in attitude and awareness will ensure women and girls are valued, recognised and given equal choices and opportunities to perform,\u201d Mrs Taylor said.<br \/>\nNine-time Paralympic Gold Medalist Louise Sauvage said having a disability should never be considered a barrier to women playing sport.<br \/>\n\u201cIn my career I went from being in the newspaper\u2019s human interest pages to the sports pages and that\u2019s where I believe any anthete deserves to be, whether you have a disability or not,\u201d said Ms Sauvage.<br \/>\nFormer mixed doubles grand slam champion Casey Dellacqua said women\u2019s sport needs to welcome everyone.<br \/>\n\u201cSport is such a powerful tool for change in society and if \u2018Her Sport Her Way\u2019 can continue to help break down perceptions and barriers surrounding participation and inclusivity for women, then we are onto a winning formula,\u201d said Ms Dellacqua.<br \/>\nSuccessful grants programs include basketball, triathlon, hockey, AFL, sailing, football, golf, surfing, tennis, swimming, motorsport, deaf sports, disabled winter sport, water polo, diving, rowing, roller skating, wheelchair sports, rugby union, gymnastics, softball, hang gliding and paragliding.<br \/>\nFor more details visit\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sport.nsw.gov.au\/clubs\/grants\/her-sport-her-way\">www.sport.nsw.gov.au\/clubs\/grants\/her-sport-her-way<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Women\u2019s sport in NSW has received a significant funding boost to help increase participation, promote leadership and encourage inclusivity.
