{"id":4403,"date":"2019-11-27T17:29:50","date_gmt":"2019-11-27T17:29:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=4403"},"modified":"2019-11-27T17:29:50","modified_gmt":"2019-11-27T17:29:50","slug":"major-planning-reform-to-drive-jobs-and-investment-in-nsw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2019\/11\/27\/major-planning-reform-to-drive-jobs-and-investment-in-nsw\/","title":{"rendered":"MAJOR PLANNING REFORM TO DRIVE JOBS AND INVESTMENT IN NSW"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The NSW Government will transform the State\u2019s planning system with major reforms to create thousands of new jobs and supercharge the economy.<br \/>\nSpeaking at the Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA) State of the State address, Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Planning and Public Spaces Minister Rob Stokes outlined the Government\u2019s vision to boost the timeliness, certainty and transparency of the State\u2019s planning system.<br \/>\n\u201cThe current system does not give investors certainty \u2013 some planning proposals are taking years to determine and there are too many layers of bureaucracy \u2013 which is unacceptable,\u201d Ms Berejiklian said.<br \/>\n\u201cUnder the new reforms, we will deliver the simplest and most effective planning system in Australia that creates thousands of jobs and improves the way people live and work, right across the State.\u201d<br \/>\nMr Stokes said a series of reforms would be introduced to the planning system over the coming months to slash assessment timeframes, reduce red tape and fast-track projects in high growth areas.<br \/>\n\u201cThis is about demystifying and restoring confidence in the planning system so we can get on with the job of delivering fantastic new places right across NSW,\u201d Mr Stokes said.<br \/>\n\u201cWe have already made significant changes to the planning system over the past few years and these changes will keep driving our State forward.\u201d<br \/>\n<strong>The planning reforms will:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Cut red tape, increase transparency, reduce assessment timeframes and make e-planning mandatory for metro councils;<\/li>\n<li>Supercharge new hubs across NSW to ensure people can live in communities close to their work;<\/li>\n<li>Fix the uncertainty of developer contributions to boost investment; and<\/li>\n<li>Preserve our heritage, create beautiful new public places, and promote good design.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>More details on the planning reforms will be outlined in the new year following consultation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The NSW Government will transform the State\u2019s planning system with major reforms to create thousands of new jobs and supercharge the economy.
