A second charity\u00a0that helps women in need has been made a City of Newcastle charity partner for the 2019 Newcastle 500.
\nThe City\u2019s third, annual Supercars function for community and business leaders will help raise money and awareness for Nova for Women and Children, a charity that assists women and children escaping domestic and family violence, at risk of homelessness, or currently experiencing it.

\n\u2018Nova\u2019\u00a0joins Got Your Back Sista as the second beneficiary of\u00a0Saturday\u2019s\u00a0charity auction\u00a0at Fort\u00a0Scratchley, which\u00a0will\u00a0be followed by International White Ribbon Day\u00a0on\u00a0Monday.
\n\u201cWe\u2019re delighted to be able\u00a0to\u00a0leverage this year\u2019s event to help another wonderful charity that helps vulnerable women,\u201d Newcastle Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes said.
\n\u201cNova for Women and Children and Got Your Back Sista are charity organisations that are there for women and children at a time when they most need support.
\n\u201cThe past two\u00a0events have also coincided with White Ribbon Day,\u00a0so\u00a0through this function\u00a0we\u2019re\u00a0maintaining and bolstering\u00a0support for a cause that no one can argue with\u00a0\u2013\u00a0campaigning against\u00a0the disturbing, ongoing\u00a0incidence of domestic violence.\u201d
\nNova for Women and Children are a local service that have provided emergency accommodation and specialist case management support, to women and children in crisis for over 35 years.
\n\u201cWe are extremely grateful to\u00a0be\u00a0welcomed as the City\u2019s second charity partner for Newcastle\u2019s biggest event,\u201d CEO Kelly\u00a0Hansen said.
\n\u2018We\u2019re really looking forward to the day because this is a great opportunity for us\u00a0to raise our profile and precious funds for\u00a0homeless\u00a0women and their children,\u00a0and\u00a0others\u00a0in crisis.\u201d

\nGot Your Back Sista\u00a0(GYBS)\u00a0became the City\u2019s first official charity partner\u00a0in 2017\u00a0and\u00a0helps\u00a0women and children who\u2019ve fled domestic violence set-up a safe home.
\n\u201cThe luncheon is a great opportunity to share our message that domestic violence is never acceptable and that we are there for any\u00a0victims of it,\u201d\u00a0GYBS\u00a0Founder Melissa\u00a0Histon\u00a0said.
\n\u201cWe work to help women start their lives again and live independently, so we are profoundly grateful\u00a0once again\u00a0for the support of both the City of Newcastle and Supercars.\u201d
\nSupported by an army of volunteers from both organisations,\u00a0Histon\u00a0and Nova\u2019s operations manager, Lee\u00a0Liewes, will address guests before six auction items go under the hammer.
\nThey include an all-expenses paid three-night trip for two to Auckland\u2019s Avani Metropolis\u00a0hotel,\u00a0a\u00a0catered corporate suite for 20 people at the Knights-Manly NRL game next year at McDonald Jones Stadium,\u00a0and a night\u2019s stay for two at a\u00a0five-star\u00a0hotel in Sydney<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
