The Minns Labor Government is continuing to modernise the Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) fleet, with the latest generation of fire trucks strengthening emergency response capability across the State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister for Emergency Services Jihad Dib and FRNSW Commissioner Jeremy Fewtrell inspected the latest batch of million-dollar fire engines to roll off the production line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Forty-five new firefighting trucks, each valued at up to $1.3 million, have been purchased by FRNSW over the past two financial years, including 28 scheduled for delivery in 2026-27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A further nine 4WD firefighting trucks to protect regional NSW are also scheduled for delivery within the next 12 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Approximately $24 million has been allocated to replace fire trucks, aerial appliances and support vehicles across NSW in 2026-27. The fleet replacement program forms part of FRNSW’s capital expenditure budget of more than $105 million for 2026-27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The latest fire trucks have been assigned to locations including Arncliffe, Alexandria, Badgerys Creek, Campbelltown, Kariong, Drummoyne, Hurstville, Liverpool, Mount Druitt, Marrickville, Narellan, Riverwood, Bonnyrigg Heights, Katoomba, Wollongong and Crows Nest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister for Emergency Services Jihad Dib said:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe are investing in more than replacement fire trucks. We’re delivering modern vehicles with better technology to help firefighters protect communities across NSW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThese new trucks can act as mini mobile control centres. They each have a Wi-Fi satellite hub to support seamless communication during emergencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cEnhanced connectivity also supports faster response through Fire and Rescue\u2019s Operational Communications Centres to get help to where it\u2019s needed in the community as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe new trucks have more room for crews and they\u2019re designed and assembled in Australia to handle challenging local fire conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n FRNSW Commissioner Jeremy Fewtrell said:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThese new fire trucks bring significant improvements in safety, communications and operational capability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSatellite Wi-Fi connectivity and vehicle tracking will help our crews stay connected and support coordination during emergencies, particularly in areas with limited communications coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe rear of the cabs now feature seating equipped with breathing apparatus, which allows firefighters to easily slip on their compressed air tanks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe trucks\u2019 automatic steps and improved thermal protection provide additional safety benefits.
