{"id":41040,"date":"2026-10-04T18:06:21","date_gmt":"2026-10-04T07:06:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=41040"},"modified":"2026-10-04T18:06:21","modified_gmt":"2026-10-04T07:06:21","slug":"coffs-harbour-jetty-foreshore-revitalisation-a-step-closer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2026\/10\/04\/coffs-harbour-jetty-foreshore-revitalisation-a-step-closer\/","title":{"rendered":"Coffs Harbour Jetty Foreshore revitalisation a step closer"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Minns Labor Government has finalised the Coffs Harbour Jetty Foreshore rezoning, paving the way for a vibrant waterfront destination with new homes, tourist accommodation, retail and public open space for locals and visitors to enjoy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This rezoning is another step in the Government&#8217;s plan to address the housing supply challenge, making use of vacant government owned land between the railway line and Jordan Esplanade and better connecting the city centre with the foreshore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Key features include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>around 250 new homes and 200 tourist accommodation rooms,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>improved pedestrian and cycling connections linking the city with the harbour,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>new open space and a multipurpose community area,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>retention of additional public recreation land at the Marina Drive entry to the precinct,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>three per cent in perpetuity affordable housing dedication or monetary contribution,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>building heights of two to six storeys,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>design guidelines to support high-quality development and protect key view corridors, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>rezoning of the former Deep Sea Fishing Club site for tourism uses only.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following community feedback, several key changes were made, including lower building heights, a requirement for affordable housing contributions, and design guidelines to protect important views towards Muttonbird Island and Corambirra Point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Future development will be supported by public infrastructure funded through a State Voluntary Planning Agreement (SVPA) being finalised between Property and Development NSW and Coffs Harbour City Council. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SVPA will provide $8.2 million for open space and foreshore park upgrades, $750,000 for road upgrades, and a further $1.9 million in applicable Local Government Area wide contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is part of the Government&#8217;s plan to build a better NSW with more homes, jobs, parks and services, so young people, families and key local workers have somewhere to live and work in the communities they choose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more information on the finalised rezoning, please visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planningportal.nsw.gov.au\/ppr\/finalisation\/coffs-harbour-jetty-foreshore\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Coffs Harbour Jetty Foreshore page<\/a> on the NSW Planning Portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, Paul Scully said:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe revitalisation of the Coffs Harbour Jetty Foreshore will provide a great destination for locals and visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of this harbour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe heard the concerns of the local community, and we have reduced building heights and increased the amount of open space and affordable housing in this finalised plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe NSW Government is acting now to address housing supply.
