{"id":4104,"date":"2019-11-04T01:41:54","date_gmt":"2019-11-04T01:41:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=4104"},"modified":"2019-11-04T01:41:54","modified_gmt":"2019-11-04T01:41:54","slug":"digital-drivers-licence-rolled-out-statewide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2019\/11\/04\/digital-drivers-licence-rolled-out-statewide\/","title":{"rendered":"DIGITAL DRIVER\u2019S LICENCE ROLLED OUT STATEWIDE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NSW drivers can now use a Digital Driver\u2019s Licence (DDL) on their smartphone for proof of identity, proof of age and at roadside police checks.<br \/>\nPremier Gladys Berejiklian and Minister for Customer Service Victor Dominello announced the statewide rollout today at Norths Cammeray, following successful trials in Dubbo, Albury and Sydney\u2019s Eastern Beaches.<br \/>\n\u201cWe\u2019ve always put the customer at the heart of everything we do. Opal card and Service NSW have revolutionised the customer experience. The Digital Driver\u2019s Licence is the latest way we are making life easier for the people of this state,\u201d Ms Berejiklian said.<br \/>\n\u201cMore than 550,000 people have already downloaded the digital licence, with 97 per cent giving it the thumbs up. In the suburb of Blacktown alone, 4,733 people have chosen to go digital.\u201d<br \/>\nThe Digital Driver\u2019s Licence has inbuilt security controls to protect customer\u2019s personal information.<br \/>\n\u201cThe DDL is hosted securely on the new Service NSW app, locks with a PIN and can be accessed offline. It will provide additional levels of security and protection against identity fraud, compared to the plastic driver licence,\u201d Mr Dominello said.<br \/>\n\u201cWe are working closely with business and industry to have them come on board and accept the DDL. This includes nightclubs, restaurants, hotels, petrol stations, supermarkets, convenience stores and tobacco retailers.
