NB: it is not a full record of resolutions.<br \/>\n<u><strong>Ordinary business\u00a0<\/strong><\/u><br \/>\n<strong>Adoption of 2018\/19 annual financial statements\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nCouncil voted to receive and adopt City of Newcastle\u2019s annual financial statements and accompanying notes for the year ended 30 June 2019.<br \/>\n<strong>Tabling of disclosures by designated persons\u00a0\u2013 annual report\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nCouncil resolved to note the\u00a0annual disclosure of interest by designated persons\u00a0returns (for the\u00a0financial year 2018\/2019)\u00a0by the CEO.<br \/>\n<strong>Administration of 2020 Council election\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nCouncil resolved to enter an election arrangement\u00a0with the Electoral Commissioner\u00a0to administer the 2020 ordinary election of Council.<br \/>\n<strong>Supplementary report\u00a0\u2013 exhibition of draft Fern Bay and North Stockton Strategy\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nThe draft Fern Bay and North Stockton Strategy Implementation Plan and Background Investigations will be placed on public exhibition for 28 days.<br \/>\n<strong>Adoption of\u00a0Community\u00a0Participation\u00a0Plan\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nCouncil adopted the Community Participation Plan\u00a0and will publish it on the NSW\u00a0eplanning\u00a0portal by 1 December.<br \/>\n<strong>Adoption of\u00a0Joslin Street Local Centre Public Domain Plan and Traffic Plan\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nCouncil has adopted\u00a0the\u00a0Joslin Street Local Centre Public Domain Plan and Traffic Plan.<br \/>\n<strong>Acquisition of 8A Albert Street and 161\u00a0Railway Street, Wickham\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nCouncil resolved to accept the transfer of\u00a08A Albert Street, Wickham, from Rail Corporation NSW\u00a0for the purposes of widening it\u00a0and also\u00a0161 Railway Street for use as a public road.<br \/>\n<strong>Carrington Greenspace Masterplan public exhibition\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nThe draft Carrington Greenspace Masterplan\u00a0will be placed on public exhibition for a period of 60 days.<br \/>\n<strong>Executive monthly performance report\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nCouncil received the monthly report.<br \/>\n<strong>Greater Newcastle Aerotropolis\u00a0\u2013 Appointment of Council\u2019s representatives\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nCouncil voted to appoint Lord Mayor Councillors Nuatali Nelmes and CEO Jeremy Bath\u00a0as shareholder representatives to Greater Newcastle Aerotropolis.<br \/>\n<u><strong>Notices of Motion\u00a0<\/strong><\/u><br \/>\n<strong>National Park Plan of Management\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nA Notice of Motion\u00a0to commence\u00a0a site-specific Management Plan at National Park through consultation with the community and relevant stakeholders was supported.<br \/>\n<strong>Emergency Egress for high rise occupants with a disability\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nA Notice of Motion\u00a0to receive a report on emergency egress\u00a0from high-rise buildings\u00a0for occupants and visitors with a disability, including options for amendments\u00a0planning documents, was supported.<br \/>\n<strong>Contracts with value of $1 million or more\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nA notice of motion\u00a0that all contracts greater than $1million that City of Newcastle awards\u00a0go to a tender process\u00a0and reported to Council for approval\u00a0was not supported.<br \/>\n<strong>Lord Mayoral Minutes<\/strong><br \/>\nThree Lord Mayoral Minutes were supported at\u00a0tonight&#8217;s\u00a0meeting.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\">Council agreed to prepare\u00a0detailed Budget submissions for both Commonwealth and NSW Treasurers to consider as a part of their funding allocation, with\u00a014\u00a0projects\u00a0listed including\u00a0Stockton Coastal Erosion, Newcastle Art Gallery expansion project, expansion of Newcastle Light Rail, flood mitigation at Wallsend\u00a0and rate rebates for pensioners.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\">Council will also prepare\u00a0a submission to the NSW Productivity Commissioner, providing City of Newcastle\u2019s feedback about how the NSW Government can best support continued growth in living standards for all Novocastrians, with specific reference to the\u00a0Greater Newcastle Metropolitan Plan 2036\u00a0noting that an opportunity exists for legislative reform and support that could expedite the implementation of the Plan.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\">Following the success of the\u00a0Lord\u00a0Mayor\u2019s Scholarship for Women,\u00a0council\u00a0accepted the proposal from the University of Newcastle to support the expansion of the scholarship program to create\u00a0the Lord Mayor\u2019s Scholarship, which will be open to all students facing disadvantage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Following is a summary of the Ordinary Council Meeting for Tuesday 22 October 2019.
