{"id":3932,"date":"2019-10-18T20:43:36","date_gmt":"2019-10-18T20:43:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=3932"},"modified":"2019-10-18T20:43:36","modified_gmt":"2019-10-18T20:43:36","slug":"new-parking-app-a-win-for-drivers-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2019\/10\/18\/new-parking-app-a-win-for-drivers-2\/","title":{"rendered":"NEW PARKING APP A WIN FOR DRIVERS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Drivers in parts of Sydney can now pay for parking and top up using their phones, with the launch of the NSW Government\u2019s Park\u2019nPay app.<br \/>\nMinister for Customer Service Victor Dominello was joined by Minister for Transport and Roads Andrew Constance today at The Rocks to announce the new technology, which goes live today in The Rocks, Liverpool Council and parts of Darling Harbour and Pyrmont.<br \/>\n\u201cThis app is a game changer for drivers, eliminating the need to search for loose coins and walking to the nearest meter to pay for parking,\u201d Mr Dominello said.<br \/>\n\u201cThe technology is hassle free and makes life easier for drivers by putting more power in their hands.\u201d<br \/>\nMr Constance said the app will help drivers avoid parking fines because they will be notified when their meter is running low or their park is about to turn into a no stopping zone.<br \/>\n\u201cPark&#8217;nPay will reduce the stress and pressures of getting a ticket from parking inspectors as you can check your meter in real-time,\u201d Mr Constance said.<br \/>\n\u201cWhen a meter is about to expire, users simply top up their account through the app so they don\u2019t have to stop what they are doing to rush back to their car.\u201d<br \/>\nThe app is free and available on iPhone and Android phones. Drivers simply download the Park\u2019nPay app, create an account with their licence plate and payment details. Users have the option of paying with Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay.<br \/>\nParking inspectors will check to see if a meter has been paid by searching licence plate details using an app on their phone. Parking meters will continue to accept coins and credit cards.<br \/>\nDrivers have a 10 minute grace period for not getting fined after paying for at least one hour of parking.<br \/>\nThe Government will work with local Councils over the coming months to come on board.
