The Albanese and Minns Governments are delivering $36 million in road safety improvements on the Snowy Mountains Highway, with the next stage of works commencing this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jointly funded by the Albanese and Minns governments under the Road Safety Program, the suite of safety upgrades stretches for almost the full 330-kilometre length of the Snowy Mountains Highway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The latest work includes the installation of new safety barriers, a widened centreline and audio tactile line marking, also known as rumble strips, on various sections of the highway between Adaminaby and the intersection with the Princes Highway near Bega.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Work will be carried out on weekdays,\u202fbetween\u202f6am and 6pm,\u202ffor up to\u202fthree months, weather permitting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Upgrades currently underway at\u202fthe intersection with Black Creek Road\u202fnear Adelong, as well as safety barrier installation between Yarrongobilly and the Hume Highway, are progressing well, with work expected to be\u202fcompleted by May 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Transport for NSW is also preparing to install\u202f150\u202fkilometres\u202fof\u202frumble strips\u202fat various sections on\u202fthe highway and this work will be carried out in stages until the end of the project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Single lane closures, traffic\u202fcontrol\u202fand a reduced speed limit of 40 km\/h will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some night work may be\u202frequired\u202fduring the delivery of this work. The community will\u202fbe notified\u202fin advance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Motorists are\u202fadvised to drive\u202fto the conditions, allow five minutes of\u202fadditional\u202ftravel time and follow the directions of signs and traffic control. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The delivery of the entire $36 million in road safety upgrades is expected to be completed by the end of the year, weather permitting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
