{"id":37354,"date":"2026-02-12T02:32:30","date_gmt":"2026-02-11T15:32:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=37354"},"modified":"2026-02-12T02:32:30","modified_gmt":"2026-02-11T15:32:30","slug":"pest-and-biosecurity-roadshow-to-better-equip-south-east-nsw-landholders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2026\/02\/12\/pest-and-biosecurity-roadshow-to-better-equip-south-east-nsw-landholders\/","title":{"rendered":"Pest and biosecurity roadshow to better equip south east NSW landholders"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Minns Labor Government is taking biosecurity and pest animal management support on the road, delivering a series of workshops across the state\u2019s south east through the Feral Pig and Pest Program 2025-26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Between February and May, landholders can attend one of eight drop-in sessions throughout the Queanbeyan-Palerang region to speak with Local Land Services biosecurity and veterinary staff about feral pig control options, baiting techniques, livestock health, seasonal conditions and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eligible landholders can also access subsidised grain to assist with baiting programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The workshops are a key part in equipping landholders with the skills and knowledge to manage pest animals on their properties, keeping livestock disease-free and getting the most out of their land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pest and biosecurity roadshow is part of the NSW Government\u2019s more than $40 million investment over the past three years in initiatives aimed at supporting landholders to control feral pig and pest animal populations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The roadshow will stop at:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Carwoola \u2013 Friday 20 February, 3pm &#8211; 6pm, Carwoola Community Hall<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mongarlowe \/ Charleys Forest \u2013 Tuesday 3 March, 9:30am &#8211; 1pm, Mongarlowe Community Hall<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Krawarree \u2013 Friday 20 March, 9am &#8211; 12pm, Gundillion Hall<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Burra \u2013 Thursday 26 March, 3pm &#8211; 6pm, Burra Community Hall<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Majors Creek\u2013 Tuesday 14 April, 1pm &#8211; 4pm, Majors Creek Recreation Hall<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bungendore \u2013 Thursday 23 April, 10am &#8211; 1pm, Bungendore Scout Hall<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Royalla \u2013 Tuesday 28 April, 3pm &#8211; 6pm, Royalla Common<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nerriga \u2013 Friday 15 May, 3pm &#8211; 6pm, Nerriga Hall<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The drop-in format allows landholders to choose a time that suits them to discuss management options tailored to their property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bookings are recommended.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsw.gov.au\/departments-and-agencies\/local-land-services\/events\">Register online<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information, landholders can contact their nearest Local Land Services office on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/77.136.143.163\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">1300 795 299<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Minister for Agriculture and Regional NSW, Tara Moriarty said:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe NSW Government is committed to addressing biosecurity threats posed by pest animals such as feral pigs as part of the Government\u2019s more than $billion biosecurity budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe South East Local Land Services pest and biosecurity roadshow is a practical and convenient way we\u2019re providing landholders with practical advice and support on managing feral pigs on their properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese sessions can help landholders develop a holistic understanding of how to manage pest animals, from baiting techniques to how seasonal conditions impact populations.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Minns Labor Government is taking biosecurity and pest animal management support on the road, delivering a series of workshops across the state\u2019s south east through the Feral Pig and Pest Program 2025-26.
