Newcastle Police have charged a man after he allegedly assaulted a woman in a wheelchair on the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
About 2.20am on Saturday 1 November 2025, police were called to a hotel on King Street, Newcastle West, following reports of an assault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers attached to Newcastle City Police District attended and were told an unknown man had allegedly pulled the wheel off a wheelchair causing the user to fall onto the ground before he ran from the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The wheelchair user \u2013 a 23-year-old woman who lives hearing and sight impairment \u2013 was treated at the scene for minor injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following inquiries, police attended a home on Turton Road, New Lambton, about 6.50pm yesterday (Sunday 2 November 2025), where they arrested a 23-year-old man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was taken to Waratah Police Station where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The man was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court on Thursday 13 November 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
