A man is in custody as inquiries continue into the death of a woman near Cessnock overnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police had made a public appeal earlier today to locate a 37-year-old man they believed could assist with inquiries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That man was arrested a short time ago when police were alerted he had been seen in Bellbird.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A sawn-off shotgun and ammunition were allegedly found when the vehicle he was in was searched; they\u2019ve been seized for forensic examination and the man has been taken to Cessnock Police Station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A black Hyundai Tucson has also been seized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The arrest follows the discovery of a woman\u2019s body in a home on Ellalong Street, Kearsley, just after 7.30pm yesterday (Friday 31 October 2025).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Local detectives, assisted by State Crime Command\u2019s Homicide Squad, established Strike Force Keavall to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman\u2019s death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
