{"id":35587,"date":"2025-10-24T08:42:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-23T21:42:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=35587"},"modified":"2025-10-24T08:42:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-23T21:42:10","slug":"busting-congestion-for-the-central-coast-work-commences-on-gosford-bypass-upgrade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2025\/10\/24\/busting-congestion-for-the-central-coast-work-commences-on-gosford-bypass-upgrade\/","title":{"rendered":"Busting congestion for the Central Coast: Work commences on Gosford Bypass upgrade"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Minns Labor Government is getting on with the job of busting congestion on the Central Coast, with work officially underway on the first stage of the $40 million Gosford Bypass upgrade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The commencement of work marks the delivery of yet another election commitment for the Coast, with the Minns Government having now invested more than $294 million on Central Coast roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These early works mark the start of a series of projects designed to bust bottlenecks and get traffic moving for the 30,000 motorists who use the corridor every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first stage of the project will prioritise the Manns Road and Stockyard Place intersection at West Gosford.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The upgrade will deliver:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Extended southbound lanes north of the intersection to keep traffic flowing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A new 2.5-metre-wide shared path for cyclists and pedestrians<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improvements to the right-turn lane into Stockyard Place<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Smoother, safer road surfaces and line markings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A relocated northbound bus stop for easier and safer access.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Work is expected to take about six weeks to complete, weather permitting, with construction carried out at night between 7pm and 4am to minimise disruption on locals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some lane closures will be required, and a reduced speed limit of 40km\/h will apply as work is completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Gosford Bypass program is being delivered in stages, combining short-term congestion-busting improvements with planning for future major upgrades along the corridor. Two further projects are currently in design and expected to be finalised in early 2026:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pacific Highway and Parsons Road intersection (roundabout capacity upgrade)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pacific Highway between Newling Street and Kathleen Morreau Road (safety and pedestrian improvements)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information and project updates, visit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.transport.nsw.gov.au\/GosfordBypass\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">transport.nsw.gov.au\/GosfordBypass<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Minister for Roads Jenny Aitchison said:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Minns Labor Government is delivering on its promise to ease congestion and get traffic moving on the Central Coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Gosford Bypass is a vital north\u2013south link for locals, freight and visitors, and we\u2019re getting on with the job of improving safety and reliability for every road user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis investment will make a real difference for thousands of motorists, cyclists and pedestrians who rely on this corridor every day.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Minister for the Central Coast David Harris said:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cProgressing this region-enhancing project is a major win for the Central Coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Gosford Bypass upgrades will cut travel times, reduce congestion and make our roads safer for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s exactly the kind of infrastructure our growing region needs and deserves.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Member for Gosford Liesl Tesch said:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe promised to fix congestion on the Gosford Bypass and that\u2019s exactly what we\u2019re doing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis upgrade will mean smoother, safer and faster trips for locals, and better connections between West Gosford and the M1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI want to thank the community for their patience as we deliver this important project for our community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Member for The Entrance David Mehan said:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPromises made, promises kept.
