Family First NSW Upper House candidate Lyle Shelton today announced that, if elected, he will move for a Parliamentary inquiry into the support of terrorist organisations by Australian Muslim groups and clerics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The inquiry will examine how open advocacy for groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah and Hizb ut-Tahrir has been allowed to flourish in Australia despite laws prohibiting the advocacy of terrorism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRecent revelations show a disturbing pattern of prominent Muslim leaders and organisations in Australia supporting or expressing sympathy for proscribed terrorist groups,\u201d Mr Shelton said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is a matter of national security.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Shelton said his pledge for an inquiry was prompted by multiple revelations reported by The Daily Telegraph:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr Ali Al Samail, a cleric appointed by the Minns Government to advise on Jewish community safety, was revealed to have urged his congregation to pressure Labor to de-list Hamas and Hezbollah<\/a> \u2014 which would allow their supporters to recruit, train, and fundraise in Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Arrahman Benevolent Society in Kingsgrove, whose co-director Youssef Nabha has publicly vowed the downfall of Israel, received $33,000 in taxpayer-funded grants<\/a> from the Minns Government \u2014 including for \u201csocial cohesion\u201d and \u201csecurity upgrades\u201d \u2014 despite long-standing ties to Hezbollah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Telegraph reported: \u201cThree months after Premier Minns\u2019 grant, Masjid Arrahman eulogised \u2018righteous martyr\u2019 and \u2018master of resistance\u2019 Hezbollah commander Hassan Nasrallah in a three-day vigil.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Speakers at last week\u2019s Hizb ut-Tahrir-linked Bankstown rally openly celebrated the October 7 Hamas terrorist attacks, chanted \u201cFrom the river to the sea\u201d, and praised \u201cMuslim armies\u201d for \u201cresisting Zionists.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n One of the speakers, notorious cleric Sheikh Ibrahim Dadoun, declared himself on October 8, 2023, \u201celated\u201d after the slaughter, rape and kidnapping of Israeli civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMany of these leaders are not fringe individuals \u2014 these are people invited to advise governments, given public money, and platformed in our suburbs,\u201d Mr Shelton said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe public deserves to know how this happened, and why no one in authority has acted.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mr Shelton said the proposed inquiry will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cCalling for the destruction of the State of Israel and glorifying terrorist violence is incompatible with Australian values,\u201d Mr Shelton said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cA public inquiry is needed to ensure that those who benefit from Australia\u2019s freedoms are not working to undermine them.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Family First NSW Upper House candidate Lyle Shelton today announced that, if elected, he will move for a Parliamentary inquiry into the support of terrorist organisations by Australian Muslim groups and clerics.
