{"id":34131,"date":"2025-08-06T01:01:57","date_gmt":"2025-08-05T15:01:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=34131"},"modified":"2025-08-06T01:01:57","modified_gmt":"2025-08-05T15:01:57","slug":"get-ready-for-nsw-womens-week-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2025\/08\/06\/get-ready-for-nsw-womens-week-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Get ready for NSW Women\u2019s Week 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Each March, the Minns Labor Government recognises and celebrates the outstanding contributions women make to our community with the NSW Women of the Year Awards, inspiring and empowering future generations to achieve great things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Awards are also a culmination of NSW Women\u2019s Week \u2013 when we encourage women to take part in a week of exciting activities and events across the state that aim to uplift, as well as advance gender equality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nominations open<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nominations for the 2026 NSW Women of the Year Awards are now open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The awards program, now in its 14th year, aims to recognise and celebrate incredible women who improve the lives of people in New South Wales.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Awards are seeking nomination of women and girls excelling in the following categories:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>NSW Premier\u2019s Woman of Excellence<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NSW Community Hero<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NSW Young Woman of the Year (aged 16-30)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NSW Aboriginal Woman of the Year<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NSW Regional Woman of the Year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Young girls aged 7-15 who show acts of courage, strength, determination and kindness to help support those around them can also be nominated in the Ones-to-Watch award category by parents, carers and teachers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NSW Government\u2019s Women of the Year Awards will be held at the International Convention Centre in Sydney on Thursday 5 March 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To nominate an exceptional woman in your life or community, visit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsw.gov.au\/departments-and-agencies\/women-nsw\/awards-and-events\/nsw-women-of-year-awards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the NSW Women of the Year Awards web page<\/a>. Nominations close Tuesday 9 September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Apply for Women\u2019s Week Grants now<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Grant applications of up to $50,000 for organisations to host NSW Women\u2019s Week events in March 2026 are now open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NSW Women\u2019s Week is about recognising and celebrating the outstanding contributions women make to our community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Events must be held within NSW Women\u2019s Week, which begins Monday 2 March and ends on International Women\u2019s Day, Sunday 8 March. They must also align with the objectives of the\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsw.gov.au\/women-nsw\/nsw-womens-strategy-2023-2026\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NSW Women&#8217;s Strategy (2023-2026)<\/a>, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>increasing opportunities and providing career pathways for women in the workplace<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>improving women\u2019s health and wellbeing, and safety in the community<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>challenging gendered expectations and supporting women\u2019s participation in society.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Organisations interested in hosting events that encourage women and girls to participate, uplift focus communities and challenge gendered norms are invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Successful EOIs will be invited to complete a full grant application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To view the guidelines and submit an EOI, please visit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsw.gov.au\/grants-and-funding\/2026-nsw-womens-week\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the 2026 NSW Women&#8217;s Week web page<\/a>. EOI applications for the NSW Women Week grants close on Tuesday 19 August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Minister for Women Jodie Harrison said:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe all know extraordinary women and girls in our lives and our communities.
