Two men have been charged following a home invasion and a shot fired into a house in the state\u2019s north in May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
About 3.50am on Friday 30 May 2025, police were called to a home on Bull Street, Mayfield, following reports a gunshot had been heard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers attached to Newcastle City Police District attended and established a crime scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The scene was forensically examined, with police identifying damage to the front door of the home consistent with the discharge of a shotgun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A further search of the property and surrounding area revealed an unspent bullet, a knife and knuckledusters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following inquiries, Detectives attached to Newcastle City Police District arrested two men under Strike Force Barkov.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Monday 16 June 2025, a 36-year-old man was taken to Newcastle Police Station where he was charged with special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was refused bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday 13 August 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Tuesday 15 July, 2025, a 32-year-old man was taken to Waratah Police Station where he was charged with fire firearm at dwelling-house disregard for safety and special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was granted conditional bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday 17 September 2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n
