{"id":33709,"date":"2025-07-15T21:08:56","date_gmt":"2025-07-15T11:08:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=33709"},"modified":"2025-07-15T21:08:56","modified_gmt":"2025-07-15T11:08:56","slug":"agreement-to-boost-chinese-tourism-to-australia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2025\/07\/15\/agreement-to-boost-chinese-tourism-to-australia\/","title":{"rendered":"Agreement to boost Chinese tourism to Australia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is focused on advancing Australia\u2019s security and economic interests \u2013 with trade, tourism and Australian jobs a critical part of his visit to China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That means driving greater and more diverse tourism cooperation between Australia and China \u2013 building on our strong people to people links.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>China is Australia\u2019s largest tourism market by expenditure, with a total spend of $9.2 billion in the 12 months up to March 2025. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This represents around a quarter of all short-term international visitor expenditure in Australia for that period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chinese tourism is also growing at a faster pace than other international markets, with a 26% increase in visitors in the past 12 months and a total of 860,000 trips to Australia.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today Prime Minister Albanese witnessed Tourism Australia and Trip.com Group sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that promotes Australia as a premier tourist destination for Chinese travellers as well as visitors from other key Asian markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This partnership will provide a significant boost for Australia\u2019s tourism industry.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trip.com Group is one of the world\u2019s largest travel agencies. It commands more than 40% of the Chinese travel market, has a large presence in other parts of Asia and is accessed by more than 300 million travellers worldwide.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While visiting Trip.com Group\u2019s headquarters in China, Prime Minister Albanese attended the launch of Tourism Australia\u2019s new trailer for the next chapter of its&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.us14.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=cc78905ba31375fc3e53d496c&amp;id=988c61a402&amp;e=9a5dbb24d7\"><em>Come and Say G\u2019Day<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;campaign \u2013 aimed at inspiring international travellers to book an Australian holiday.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prime Minister Albanese<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNot only is Australia\u2019s beef, barley, red wine and rock lobster the best in the world \u2013 we\u2019re the best place in the world to come for a holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cExpanding our tourism relationship with China will mean more jobs for Australians and a boost for Australian businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is focused on advancing Australia\u2019s security and economic interests \u2013 with trade, tourism and Australian jobs a critical part of his visit to China.
