{"id":33607,"date":"2025-07-07T14:25:45","date_gmt":"2025-07-07T04:25:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=33607"},"modified":"2025-07-07T14:25:45","modified_gmt":"2025-07-07T04:25:45","slug":"pedal-power-drives-mogo-as-new-trail-network-opens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2025\/07\/07\/pedal-power-drives-mogo-as-new-trail-network-opens\/","title":{"rendered":"Pedal power drives Mogo as new trail network opens"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Another leg in the race to establish southeast NSW as a premier mountain bike hub is complete with Mogo Trails officially open to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This 125-kilometre trail network now winds through the scenic bushland of Mogo, stretching behind Batehaven and out towards Mount Wandera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mogo Trails is funded by $5 million from the Australian and NSW Government\u2019s Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund and $3 million in additional NSW Government funding. The trails were developed in collaboration with the landowner, Forestry Corporation of NSW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Led by Eurobodalla Shire Council the project includes 72-purpose built trails for all skill levels, from beginner green trails to advanced double black runs for thrill-seekers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Combined with existing trail networks in Narooma and Eden, the opening of Mogo Trails brings the region\u2019s total offering to an impressive 250 kilometres of world-class mountain biking<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The regional trail network is expected to draw around 60,000 visitors annually, with local tourism and hospitality businesses already seeing the financial benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Federal Minister for Emergency Management Kristy McBain:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s great to see the Mogo Trails open to support local jobs and attract more visitors to experience what this amazing region has to offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThrough our joint investment, the Australian and NSW Governments have partnered to help ensure long-term recovery for Mogo that sees the community thrive after the devastating impact of Black Summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith hundreds of kilometres available for beginners to advanced riders, this project puts some of the best South Coast landscapes on display for travellers and locals, helping to strengthen communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI really encourage people to try and visit Mogo and experience some of the world-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>class trails and facilities, and I\u2019d like to congratulate everyone involved with this project \u2013 this is an achievement that they can be incredibly proud of.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Member for Gilmore Fiona Phillips:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhat started out as the vision of a group of avid mountain bike enthusiasts is now a reality and we have a truly epic facility that will be enjoyed by locals as well as visitors to our area.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRiding the trails through our stunning forests offers a great way for families to enjoy the outdoors, and for the community to come together \u2013 no matter their mountain biking ability.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I love mountain bike riding, and I\u2019ve already had an opportunity to get dusty and test my skills on the thrilling \u2018Wild Wombat\u2019 and \u2018Cosmic Thunder\u2019 trails.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMogo was absolutely devastated by the Black Summer Bushfires, and this marks another milestone in the town&#8217;s social and economic recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m so proud to have supported such a wonderful attraction that will be a huge boost for local businesses and the Eurobodalla economy with events like the inaugural Sea Otter Australia extravaganza happening in October.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Minister for Regional NSW Tara Moriarty:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMogo Trails represent more than just a new place to ride \u2013 they\u2019re a significant step forward in unlocking the region\u2019s full tourism potential, helping to create new business opportunities and supporting long-term economic growth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis network will help put Mogo on the map as a destination for riders of all ages and abilities across Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith networks linking Mogo, Narooma and Eden, something truly unique has been created &#8211; a mountain biking experience that spans coastal, bush, state forest and mountain terrain, all in one region.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith the school holidays starting, now\u2019s the perfect time for families to visit the trails, helping kids get out and about in nature, stay active, and take a break from their screens.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Minister for the Illawarra and South Coast Ryan Park:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Mogo trails are another jewel in the crown of NSW\u2019s South East, adding a world-class mountain biking network that showcases our region\u2019s beautiful natural landscapes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s fantastic to see the network already unlocking new opportunities for local tourism and hospitality businesses, with thousands of visitors expected to hit the trails every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhile it\u2019s a huge new drawcard for visitors to the South Coast, it\u2019s also a fantastic opportunity for locals to make the most of purpose-built mountain bike trails in their own backyard.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI want to congratulate everyone involved for their hard work in bringing 125km of new mountain bike trails to life &#8211; and encourage riders of all abilities to come try it out for themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr Michael Holland Member for Bega:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe NSW South Coast in the electorate of Bega is the State\u2019s premier mountain biking destination.
