{"id":3208,"date":"2019-07-05T01:46:03","date_gmt":"2019-07-05T01:46:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=3208"},"modified":"2019-07-05T01:46:03","modified_gmt":"2019-07-05T01:46:03","slug":"new-playground-open-in-adamstown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2019\/07\/05\/new-playground-open-in-adamstown\/","title":{"rendered":"New playground open in Adamstown"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"inner-head\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"inner-desc\">Local families looking for outdoor fun can mark Fletcher Street Reserve\u2019s new playground down as a fantastic place for the kids to play.<br \/>\nThe $150,000 facility, nestled away in a leafy part of the suburb, was opened yesterday by Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes as part of the City\u2019s annual playground replacement program.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Fletcher-opening-inside.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.newcastle.nsw.gov.au\/getattachment\/Council\/News\/Latest-News\/New-playground-in-Adamstown\/Fletcher-opening-inside.jpg.aspx\" alt=\"Fletcher-opening-inside.jpg\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Fletcher-Street-Reseveinside.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.newcastle.nsw.gov.au\/getattachment\/Council\/News\/Latest-News\/New-playground-in-Adamstown\/Fletcher-Street-Reseveinside.jpg.aspx\" alt=\"Fletcher-Street-Reseveinside.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nLocated in a reserve also known as Laneway Park, the new playground includes an extra wide stainless-steel slide, clock, musical chimes, mountain ramp, rope net climber and double swings.<br \/>\n\u201cI\u2019m delighted to open this new playground,\u201d Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes said at the official opening attended by students from St Columba\u2019s Primary School in Adamstown.<br \/>\n\u201cThe design, which was selected by the community, is versatile enough to suit toddlers up to primary school-aged children and makes for a great new addition to the suburb.<br \/>\n\u201cFletcher Street Reserve takes the total number of playgrounds replaced by the City in the past four years to 15 across 11 different suburbs, equating to more than $5 million worth of fun new facilities for the community.\u201d<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Fletcher-Street-Reserve-inside2.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.newcastle.nsw.gov.au\/getattachment\/Council\/News\/Latest-News\/New-playground-in-Adamstown\/Fletcher-Street-Reserve-inside2.jpg.aspx\" alt=\"Fletcher-Street-Reserve-inside2.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nUnder the annual renewal scheme, the City\u2019s Parks and Projects teams completely overhaul outdated equipment, replacing them with more modern materials that meet rising standards and service expectations.<br \/>\nThis opening follows the recent delivery of the South Stockton Active Hub, the Cressington Way playground in Wallsend and last year\u2019s opening of Blackbutt\u2019s Richley Reserve adventure playground.<br \/>\n\u201cWe look forward to rolling out more of these wonderful facilities for young families in the years to come,\u201d Councillor Nelmes added.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Local families looking for outdoor fun can mark Fletcher Street Reserve\u2019s new playground down as a fantastic place for the kids to play.
