{"id":31996,"date":"2025-03-23T15:54:42","date_gmt":"2025-03-23T15:54:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=31996"},"modified":"2025-03-23T15:54:42","modified_gmt":"2025-03-23T15:54:42","slug":"man-charged-with-domestic-violence-offences-after-police-operation-mayfield","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2025\/03\/23\/man-charged-with-domestic-violence-offences-after-police-operation-mayfield\/","title":{"rendered":"Man charged with domestic violence offences after police operation &#8211; Mayfield"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A man has been charged with domestic violence and kidnapping offences after a police operation in Newcastle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>About 10.50am today (Sunday 23 March 2024), emergency services were called to a unit complex on Woodbine Street, Mayfield, following reports of a domestic violence incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On arrival, police were told a 66-year-old woman had been assaulted by a man known to her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police attempted to arrest a 30-year-old man, who allegedly threatened police and refused to leave the unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Specialist tactical police, NSW Ambulance paramedics, and Fire and Rescue NSW attended to assist in the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The man exited the unit and was arrested without further incident at about 5.15pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was taken to Newcastle Police Station and charged with four offences:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Hinder\/resist law enforcement officer in execution of duty<\/li><li>Destroy or damage property \u2013 DV<\/li><li>Contravene prohibition\/restriction in AVO \u2013 DV<\/li><li>Kidnap with intent to commit serious indictable offence, occasioning actual bodily harm \u2013 DV<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>He was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court tomorrow (Monday 24 March 2025).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A man has been charged with domestic violence and kidnapping offences after a police operation in Newcastle.
