{"id":31148,"date":"2025-02-01T04:44:07","date_gmt":"2025-02-01T04:44:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=31148"},"modified":"2025-02-01T04:44:07","modified_gmt":"2025-02-01T04:44:07","slug":"albanese-labor-government-building-victorias-future-with-fee-free-tafe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2025\/02\/01\/albanese-labor-government-building-victorias-future-with-fee-free-tafe\/","title":{"rendered":"Albanese Labor Government building Victoria&#8217;s future with fee free TAFE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Albanese Labor Government is building Australia\u2019s future by investing in training and apprenticeships, with new data released today showing in Victoria there have been close to 110,000 enrolments in Free TAFE since the program began in January 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are continuing to deliver cost of living relief while encouraging more Australians into trades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s why we\u2019re making Free TAFE permanent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s also why we\u2019ve announced a $10,000 incentive payment for Australians in construction apprenticeships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Labor\u2019s plan for a Future Made in Australia is very clear: we want Australian workers to make more things here and that includes building more homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From July 1 2025, eligible apprentices will receive $10,000 in incentive payments, on top of their wages, over the life of their apprenticeship to work in housing construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the Albanese Government\u2019s Free TAFE program in Victoria, between January 2023 and September 2024, there have been:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>more than 13,300 enrolments in the construction sector.<\/li><li>more than 34,300 in the care sector.<\/li><li>more than 5,900 in the agriculture sector.<\/li><li>more than 9,900 in the technology and digital sector.<\/li><li>more than 5,500 in the early childhood education and care sector.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This new data also shows popular Free TAFE courses in Victoria were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Diploma of Nursing with students saving up to $17,150.<\/li><li>Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) with students saving up to $9,257.<\/li><li>Certificate IV in Training and Assessment with students saving up to $5,368.<\/li><li>Certificate IV in Cyber Security with students saving up to $4,108.<\/li><li>Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping with students saving up to $3,597.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Students from regional areas comprised more than a third of all enrolments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"prime-minister-anthony-albanese\">Prime Minister Anthony Albanese:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBuilding Australia\u2019s Future is about so much more than bricks and mortar. It is about creating a better life for Australians, building better education and creating new employment opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s why my Government is backing training and apprenticeships, to set up the next generation for the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOnly a Labor Government is building Australia\u2019s future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"minister-for-skills-and-training-andrew-giles\">Minister for Skills and Training Andrew Giles:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFree TAFE is providing an accessible pathway to secure work and cost-of-living relief to more than 108,000 enrolments in Victoria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Albanese Labor Government is committed to building the future of our country which is we introduced our Free TAFE Bill in Parliament, to make Free TAFE enduring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs I travel around Victoria, at every TAFE I visit, I meet students who tell me how much Free TAFE has changed their life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNow \u2013 with our additional $10,000 incentive payments and increased support for apprentices \u2013 there is no better time to pick up the tools, build homes for Australians and earn while you learn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Liberal party believes that if you don\u2019t pay for something, you don\u2019t value it. Well I believe the tens of thousands of Victorians who\u2019ve enrolled in Free TAFE value their TAFE education and the doors it opens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s great to see Victorians embracing the opportunity to lay the foundations for their future careers through Free TAFE. I\u2019m proud that they can make this decision without having to consider the burden of financial pressure of training costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPeter Dutton and the Liberals are blocking Free TAFE, but with Anthony Albanese and the Australian Labor Party, Free TAFE is here to stay.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"victorian-minister-for-skills-and-tafe-gayle-tierney\">Victorian Minister for Skills and TAFE Gayle Tierney:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cVictoria is the birthplace of Free TAFE.
