{"id":31081,"date":"2025-01-28T14:36:51","date_gmt":"2025-01-28T14:36:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=31081"},"modified":"2025-01-28T14:36:51","modified_gmt":"2025-01-28T14:36:51","slug":"championing-creativity-and-diversity-during-nsw-womens-week-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2025\/01\/28\/championing-creativity-and-diversity-during-nsw-womens-week-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Championing creativity and diversity during NSW Women\u2019s Week 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Fifteen organisations across New South Wales have received a share of more than $430,000 to host events that highlight women\u2019s creativity, diversity and empowerment during this year\u2019s Women\u2019s Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NSW Government is building better communities where women and girls can achieve their potential and thrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Women\u2019s Week Grants have been running since 2018 to fund innovative events that empower women and girls to participate in our communities, to advance gender equality in the longer term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 15 successful recipients of the 2025 Women\u2019s Week Grants include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Interrelate Ltd<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; Empowerment through education: addressing the need for menstrual education to support young women in need&nbsp;(Coonamble LGA)<\/li><li><strong>Kiama Municipal Council<\/strong>\u202f- Paint the Town Femme (Kiama LGA)\u202f<\/li><li><strong>Powerhouse Youth Theatre Inc.<\/strong>\u202f- Khair (\u062e\u064a\u0631): A Woman&#8217;s Tale\u202f(Fairfield LGA)<\/li><li><strong>NSW Tonga Netball Association Inc<\/strong>\u202f- Her Journey\u202f(Queanbeyan-Palerang LGA)<\/li><li><strong>Mudgee Local Aboriginal Land Council<\/strong>\u202f- Yinaagirbang Maywang (Women Together)\u202f(Mid-Western LGA)<\/li><li><strong>Accessible Arts<\/strong>\u202f- Wellbeing Through Art&nbsp;(City of Sydney LGA)<\/li><li><strong>African Sub-Sahara International Development Agency (ASSIDA)<\/strong>\u202f- African Women Celebration Week\u202f(Liverpool LGA)<\/li><li><strong>SSI &#8211; Settlement Service International &#8211;&nbsp;<\/strong>Celebrating the diversity of regional women\u202f(Coffs Harbour LGA)<\/li><li><strong>Walhallow Local Aboriginal Land Council<\/strong>\u202f- Rise &amp; Shine: Gamilaroi Women\u2019s Week Celebration\u202f(Liverpool Plains LGA)<\/li><li><strong>Lane Cove Council<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; Resilience and Radiance\u202f(Lane Cove LGA)<\/li><li><strong>Diversity Arts Australia<\/strong>\u202f- Empowering Diversity: Women in Arts and Creativity Symposium (Parramatta LGA)<\/li><li><strong>Northern Beaches Council<\/strong>\u202f- NSW Women&#8217;s Week Writing and Poetry Workshop Series &#8211; Celebrating Female Authors living with a Disability (Northern Beaches LGA)<\/li><li><strong>Nourish Nation Foundation Inc&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2013 Nourishing Women: A Path to Health Empowerment (Wagga Wagga LGA)<\/li><li><strong>Randwick City Council<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Women\u2019s Work art show and live music performance (Randwick LGA)<\/li><li><strong>Maari Ma Health Aboriginal Organisation<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013<strong><\/strong>Because of Her, We Can: Health and Wellbeing in Far West NSW (Broken Hill, Central Darling Shire and Balranald LGAs)<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>NSW Women\u2019s Week, which runs from Sunday 2 to Saturday 8 March, is an annual showcase of the stories and remarkable achievements of women in our state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NSW Government\u2019s Women of the Year Awards at the International Convention Centre is the culmination the week-long celebrations and will be held in Sydney on Thursday 6 March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To find out more about Women\u2019s Week 2025 events, visit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsw.gov.au\/women-nsw\/awards-and-events\/womens-week\">NSW Women&#8217;s Week 2025 | NSW Government<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Minister for Women Jodie Harrison said:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe NSW Government is thrilled to fund one of the most diverse range of Women\u2019s Week events this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAlongside some great activities that focus on women\u2019s health, art and stories, we have funded events we hope will engage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, the LGBTIQA+ community, women with a disability and women from rural, regional and remote NSW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe want these events to inspire creativity and talent, empower women of all ages and backgrounds and encourage diversity and inclusion.
