{"id":30918,"date":"2025-01-16T13:00:16","date_gmt":"2025-01-16T13:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=30918"},"modified":"2025-01-18T04:37:53","modified_gmt":"2025-01-18T04:37:53","slug":"princess-theatre-to-live-for-another-100-years-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2025\/01\/16\/princess-theatre-to-live-for-another-100-years-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Princess theatre to live for another 100 years"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A $12.7 million investment for the redevelopment of the Princess Theatre and Earl Street Arts Centre will ensure Launceston\u2019s home of theatre lives on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Albanese Government has committed to upgrading the 100-year-old heritage-listed Princess Theatre as well as the construction of a new contemporary Earl Street Theatre, with the hope of ensuring the community stalwart thrives for another 100 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During construction, the project is anticipated to create 280 jobs, and once complete, provide an estimated $73.65 million boost to the region\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This project demonstrates the Albanese Government\u2019s commitment to listening to local voices and funding priorities that benefit Tasmania\u2019s regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is part of our Growing Regions Program which invests in spaces for communities to gather, that promote community connection and shape everyday lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today\u2019s funding follows the $11 million provided for the Launceston Community Precinct project under round 1 of the program.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Growing Regions Program delivers investment in infrastructure across Australia&#8217;s regional, rural and remote areas.
