{"id":30159,"date":"2024-11-19T09:37:14","date_gmt":"2024-11-19T09:37:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=30159"},"modified":"2024-11-19T09:37:14","modified_gmt":"2024-11-19T09:37:14","slug":"play-her-way-the-next-wave-in-womens-sport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2024\/11\/19\/play-her-way-the-next-wave-in-womens-sport\/","title":{"rendered":"Play Her Way \u2013 the next wave in women\u2019s sport"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Minns Labor Government today announced its plan for the next wave in women\u2019s sport with the release of its new women\u2019s sport strategy \u2013 Play Her Way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Play Her Way is a four-year plan that aims to get more NSW women and girls playing, and staying involved in, sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The strategy builds on the groundswell of support for women&#8217;s sport, which has seen a massive increase in participation and viewership at both grassroots and professional levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Play Her Way will support the next wave of young females on their journey to the top of sport as well as ensure more women and girls can participate in fun, safe and inclusive sporting environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Key themes of the strategy include participation, leadership, culture, partnerships and investment with a particular focus on addressing the low rates of participation among adolescent girls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To achieve this, the NSW Government will partner with the sports sector to break down barriers preventing adolescent girls participating in sport and identify new opportunities to increase participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The strategy was launched at URBNSRF Sydney Olympic Park where a group of the next generation of female athletes caught a wave together to symbolise the next wave in women\u2019s sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For further information on the Play Her Way women\u2019s sport strategy visit:&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sport.nsw.gov.au\/play-her-way\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><em>https:\/\/www.sport.nsw.gov.au\/play-her-way<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Minister for Sport Steve Kamper said:<\/strong><br>&nbsp;<br>\u201cWomen\u2019s sport has seen tremendous growth and success in recent years through the performances of the Matildas at the FIFA Women\u2019s World Cup 2023, the success of NRLW as well as the Australian women\u2019s cricket team and the recent Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut there is still work to do to maintain this momentum and capitalise on the next wave of women\u2019s sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCrucial to achieving this is addressing the low rates of participation among adolescent girls and working with the sector to develop new and innovative opportunities for teenage girls to play sport their way.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Minister for Women Jodie Harrison said:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe NSW Government is committed to providing safe, inclusive and supportive environments for all women and girls to participate in sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe want more women playing sport.
