Two teenagers have been charged over alleged driving and property offences following a pursuit near Newcastle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
About 9:20pm yesterday (Sunday 9 June 2024), officers attached to Raymond Terrace Highway Patrol were patrolling Mount Hall Road, Raymond Terrace, when they located a white Toyota Corolla which had been reported stolen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police attempted to stop the vehicle, however when it allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Road spikes were successfully deployed, and the vehicle was found a short time later abandoned on Platt Street, Waratah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The male driver, aged 15, and passengers, a male, aged 18, and female, aged 13, were arrested and taken to Waratah Police Station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 15-yer-old was charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, Class A motor vehicle exceed speed > 10 km\/h and police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was refused bail to appear before a Children\u2019s Court today (Monday 10 June 2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 18-year-old was charged with Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was refused bail and appeared in Newcastle Local Court today (Monday 10 June 2024), where he was given conditional bail to appear before Raymond Terrace Local Court on Monday 1 July 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
