Homicide Detectives have arrested a third man following an investigation into a home invasion and fatal shooting in the Hunter region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
About 10.50pm on Tuesday 27 December 2022, emergency services were called to Traders Way at Heddon Greta \u2013 about 20km east of Cessnock \u2013 following reports a man had been shot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man; however, he died at the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He has since been identified as 25-year-old Zachery \u2018Zac\u2019 Davies-Scott, known to many in the area as \u2018Donnie\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
State Crime Command\u2019s Homicide Squad took carriage of the investigation under Strike Force Roslyn, with assistance provided from officers attached to the Hunter Valley Police District and Northern Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police were told a group of people allegedly forced entry to the Heddon Greta home before Mr Davies-Scott was fatally shot in what is believed to be a home invasion gone wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A 52-year-old woman also sustained minor injuries attempting to fight off the alleged attackers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other family members home at the time \u2013 including two children, aged two and four, and Mr Davies-Scott\u2019s pregnant partner \u2013 witnessed the incident, but were uninjured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following inquiries, about 4.50am today (Tuesday 16 January 2024) strike force detectives \u2013 with assistance from Raptor Squad \u2013 arrested a 25-year-old man at Elermore Vale. He was taken to Waratah Police Station where he is expected to be charged. A search warrant is being executed at a home in Elermore Vale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two men remain before the courts charged over this incident, while a 25-year-old woman was arrested on 5 January 2024, and charged with hindering the investigation, and possess a prohibited drug. She\u2019s due to appear in Kurri Kurri Local Court on 23 January 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
