I\u2019d like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For so many Australians, this is a chance to rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To spend time with our family, catch-up with friends, and to cherish the memories of those no longer with us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And for Christians, this is a holy time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this time of celebration and reflection, we express our gratitude to everyone who\u2019s giving up their Christmas for the sake of others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In particular, our emergency personnel and Australian Defence Force members, whether here or overseas. Our medical workers and our hospitality and those who give up for others through charities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of course, this isn\u2019t an easy time for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I know many Australians are doing it tough at the moment, in particular those in Far North Queensland, dealing with the aftermath of the floods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To them I say, you are all in our thoughts. May better times be ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And may all Australians have a happy and joyous Christmas, and a safe one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And please this festive season, drive safely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
