{"id":2462,"date":"2019-04-24T00:55:40","date_gmt":"2019-04-24T00:55:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/?p=2462"},"modified":"2019-04-24T00:55:40","modified_gmt":"2019-04-24T00:55:40","slug":"park-and-ride-to-roll-on-into-may","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.16news.com.au\/index.php\/2019\/04\/24\/park-and-ride-to-roll-on-into-may\/","title":{"rendered":"Park and Ride to roll on into May"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"content-main \">\n<div class=\"bg-container\">\n<div id=\"content-main\" class=\"wrap\">\n<div class=\"second-lvl-wrap\">\n<div class=\"main-content\">\n<div class=\"inner-content event-detail-page\">\n<div class=\"inner-desc\">City of Newcastle will extend the operation of Park and Ride for another month to allow more time to collate user feedback and to continue negotiations with possible future operators of the service.<br \/>\nMore than 583 people responded to the City\u2019s call for feedback on the service, with an overwhelming majority of respondents (95 per cent) satisfied or very satisfied with it.<br \/>\nA majority of respondents also supported paying more for Park and Ride, if this secured its future.<br \/>\nCity of Newcastle CEO Jeremy Bath said the continuation of the service in May would enable the City to complete commercial discussions with possible future operators after the Easter-Anzac public holiday disruption.<br \/>\n\u201cThe response to the surveys confirms the Park and Ride is a service of enormous value to commuters into the City,\u201d Mr Bath said.<br \/>\n\u201cThis is demonstrated by the fact that most people surveyed have indicated that they\u2019d be willing to pay more to ensure the service\u2019s longevity.<br \/>\n\u201cExtending Park and Ride until the end of May allows us to continue exploring future options for the service, without impacting on users. We expect to be in a position to make an announcement on the long-term future of Park and Ride by mid-May.\u201d<br \/>\nDuring May, there will be no change to the current service \u2013 including the cost &#8211; with buses to operate weekdays from 7am to 9am from McDonald Jones Stadium and departing from the city to Broadmeadow between 3pm and 6.30pm.<br \/>\nThe City will operate Park and Ride free of charge on Anzac Day to help Hunter residents pay their respects at the Nobbys Dawn Service and other commemorations in the inner city later in the morning.<br \/>\nBuses will depart McDonald Jones Stadium from 3am and head to Queens Wharf.
